Commutative Live Trains

Platforms before the boards
Description (
Characters: 1536 of 4000
)
Commutative can tell you exactly where your train is in real time and tell you what platform your train will depart from hours before it appears on the station boards. This means you can be the first to board the train and have your choice of seats. • See your train's platform hours before it departs (before other apps and before the boards in the station) • Ask to be notified if your train is late, changes platform, or cancelled • Add a Widget to your Home Screen to see your commute at a glance • See exactly where your train is - including points in-between stations that other train apps don't show. Because Commutative pulls data directly from National Rail's systems, it knows your platform earlier than any other app. No platform yet? Don't want to look up at the boards? Just tap 'Get Notifications' and relax. We'll notify you the second we learn your platform. At the latest, this will be a few seconds before it appears on the departure boards in the station. Sometimes we'll predict it up to 5 hours before! Now you'll always beat the rush and get a seat, and you don't need to stand there staring up at the departure board for hours. Is your train delayed? You can see exactly where your train is en-route, see where it's been, and when it's due. This includes the points in-between passenger stations that aren't reported in other train apps. Do you commute? Add your commute as a Widget and always see the next 5 trains at a glance. The Widget can be set to reverse at midday too, to show your journey back home.}

Tried it twice at London Paddington. Zero indicative platforms were shown. Waste of money.

My old go-to app (LiveTrains) is no longer available so searched for another and found this one - it uses the same reliable data source and enhances what I had before with live tracking. The widget that switches train directions after lunch is a very nice touch. Highly recommended!

I initially gave this app one star because it wasn’t working and I couldn’t reach the developer. But he replied to my review and we chatted by email. The issue is now resolved and I am really enjoying having a train tracking app that looks great and does what it should. Thank you!!

Only my first day of using the app, so more stars may be available. Would be good to see a display of which train(s?) are being tracked perhaps on the landing page. Also, on my iPhone 15 pro the live activity display seems to be too wide? Certainly wider than the native Timer app that I choose for comparison. The result is that when present, the time of day is hidden. To see the time I either have to lock the screen, or make the app full screen again. Looking forward to further updates :)

Lovely looking app and really well built, commendations to Brandon on the design. Very intuitive and great for planning a journey to beat all the other commuters! The widgets are so cool as well.

Major station Brighton (BTN) not available to pick. How many more missing from master list?? At least I can now see trains and the ability to see passing points is useful. At least one other app does show predicted platforms which change colour when confirmed. Predicted platforms have been available in NR data for years. Be interesting to see how things progress if app regularly updated. How about the option to see all departures from a station without having to pick a destination? That would make App really useful. Details for ’Nerds’ useful, but why class everybody who is interested in this as Nerds. Just drop the Nerd part! It’s stupid and could be insulting to some users. 21.12/24 Two years later I thought I’d give the app another try. App fails to find any local journeys from Lewes despite the fact direct trains show on other apps. Tried EUS-RUG as shown in App Store. Again a blank. Waterloo to Clapham Junction draws a blank too. Refund again requested. I’ll stick with Railchecker Pro which is far better and reliable.

Edit: This has since been rectified by the developer. Thank you again. Hello, I work on Avanti trains and I am unable to see the layout. Is there a reason for this? George

Love this app and the widgets are brilliant. I had a technical issue initially with this app, but Brandon the developer was incredibly responsive and sorted it out almost immediately. 5 stars!

A beautiful new redesign brings a fresh coat of Liquid Glass — a smoother, more fluid design that'll look right at home on iOS 26. You can now sort train results by departure or arrival time — perfect for spotting later trains that actually get there first. You can also filter by a specific train operator if you need to. Just look for the filter icon at the top of the search results. Plus lots of little improvements like faster access to recent stations, a more polished detail page, and brace yourself for this but there's actually stops beyond the Metrocentre?!
