This app is faulty, in a way I have not experienced with other apps/programs. The current “monster of the week”, are the AI “voices”, that read articles aloud. For ~a month, selecting between voices has been broken. Instead, there is a single voice, which does a poor job of speaking. For example, “GPT5.1” will be read aloud as “GPA”. The model often confabulates, or makes up gobiltygook. Meaning, that listening while the app is closed, is a great way to not understand what you’re reading. Maybe this would be fine, if the following along while reading aloud feature, worked consistently. But instead, it reliably jumps around the text, causing me to often lose my place in whatever I’m reading. I do not feel like this app is a ‘work of heart’. I feel unseen as a user, having made extensive complaints, over the past two years I have used this app. I stay, because of the obsidian integration. If it didn’t have that feature, I would have left a long time ago. Also, for gods sake, just add functionality to select different highlighter hex codes already!! I’m so sick of the Johnny Harris, piss yellow highlighter! Also, why did you choose perplexly? Please just let me use my Claude API in the app. I never use the AI functionality, because it consistently disappoints. I’m just going to keep ranting, because I’ve got mountains of pent up frustration with this app. There are features that I’m sure could be one shot vibe coded by Gemini 3 pro, that would make the app meaningfully better; that just… don’t exists. I get the minimalist style; I like that about the app! But some “advanced settings” really wouldn’t hurt. For example; highlighter color! Why do emails from OpenAI consistently show up in my feed? Even when it’s “your payment has been processed”. The app feels stagnant. I think there have only been two major changes, in the two years I have been using it. 1. ask AI was added 2. Switched to using 11labs voices Is there a blog, where I can find out what you guys are working on? I feel like a total dick, writing this. Surely there is critical information that I’m missing? Something that’s making development of this app much harder for you? All this being said. I am stuck with you. Because I like this app; it’s a good app, sir. But it’s so frustrating, that bugs that I report, never get fixed!

It downloads most webpages fine, but the way it formats them is sometimes obnoxious and counterintuitive. I looked past it because they claim in multiple places the app can download PDFs and easily convert them for reading with all the features they advertise. I tried 4 PDFs and only one worked. I tried going premium (used the free trial) and same problem. I emailed their feedback email asking for help and got nothing. I emailed their support email, got nothing. I emailed their CEO, who emails you when you sign up saying to reach out to him with concerns. Did I get a response? Nope. It’s been a week. Don’t waste your time.

They finally responded. It seems you need to write a bad review for the to pay attention which is a shame. New version is nice, and Matter is probably still the best app to organize your reading, but some key features have gone for no good reason (they confirmed it). A good example is the ability for bulk delete both in your inbox and archive. It seems they assumed people don’t mind accumulating documents, but for many it’s key to keep their archives organized. Hope it comes back. Original review: The app is good, but despite being a paying and loyal customer and their claims of being user oriented, they never answer when you contact them. Good luck if you need support.

1. I had issues signing in with Apple. OK, used email. 2. Getting the magic link takes forever. Why can’t you be normal and just use passwords? My randomly generated passwords are better and always work. 3. CSV import from Pocket (via email) doesn’t work. Getting mail deliver responses back. With both the ZIP and the CSV. Update: I’ve eventually been able to resolve the above issues. And now that I get to use the app, I am surprised by how unpolished it is. For example, the tab bar disappeared and I am stuck on the queue screen. Pretty bad for a paid service.

I used this app to aggregate articles into a single file to send to my Kindle. Other apps allow single article send and it is very messy. I was enjoying the app; then the update happened. I lost the ability to do the only thing I used the app for. I contacted the company several times but never received a reply. I have Readwise, which is incredibly responsive. Rating a 1 because I couldn’t get help and paid in advance for a year.

When adding a YouTube video to the queue it’s not possible to open it or play without premium…

Schade eigentlich. Sie sieht sehr vielversprechend aus.
