Australia is home to some of the world’s most venomous creatures! Learn more about them and what to do in an emergency situation if you, or someone with you is bitten or stung by a venomous snake, spider, jellyfish, aquatic creature or creepy crawly! While deaths due to venomous bites and stings are rare in Australia, it’s important to apply the appropriate first aid and seek urgent medical care to help improve a victim’s outcome. Download the Australian Bites & Stings App so that the information is available on your phone, even without internet connection, so that you are prepared in Australia’s great outdoors, or at home. This app has been prepared for Australia by Seqirus – one of the world’s few manufacturers of antivenoms – thanks to The Australian Government and the expert assistance of the Australian Venom Research Unit (AVRU). Clicked in European wasp for treatment info, took me to ticks! Who’s got time for stuffing around trying to find the correct info? Useless app.

Very limited detail most of which recommends calling emergency services! Information is generalised between several creatures which means that specific treatment is missing. There is no Australian stonefish listed and I would imagine that there are quite a few other venomous or potentially dangerous species that have not been included, I think I’d be better off googling treatment if became necessary, hopefully the app will be developed a lot more
