Play any synth on your guitar
Description (

)
Play any synth or virtual instrument with your trusted guitar. ##### Lots of user videos: jamorigin.com ##### MIDI Guitar is the World’s first app to transcribe guitar playing into MIDI in real-time, with latency and accuracy comparable to expensive and inconvenient hardware MIDI guitar solutions. MIDI Guitar is over 10 years in development(!) and based upon state-of-the-art polyphonic pitch detection and –prediction technology that can accurately recognize guitar playing and -articulation with very low latency and without spurious hits. The technology has been validated by thousands of guitarists over the years. MIDI Guitar comes as AudioUnit plugin (AUv3) and as a standalone app which can host other iOS synth apps or send virtual midi to Garageband or other DAWs. You need a guitar interface for best results. We recommend a digital interface (using the lightning connector) over analog (via headphone jack), preferably with input gain control. Using an acoustic guitar with the built in microphone works for some purposes but is not optimal. The free version will interrupt every few minutes, asking you to buy an in-app purchase. If you have problems please refer to the website: www.jamorigin.com/docs or the user forum: jamosapien.com.}

Well… After waiting a very long time for the new beta version to be released, it was pulled (again). So I reverted back to MG 2. The one function I truly need, "hold synth, switch to guitar" doesn't seem to work with the iPad/GarageBand. I had to pay $30 to find this out.

I downloaded this app wanting to use this with Logic Pro because it was advertised that this app had AUv3 support, only to find out that the feature was locked behind not only one in-app purchase, but in order to purchase that upgrade, you needed to purchase another upgrade that’s more expensive. I don’t mind having some extra features that are unlocked with an in-app purchase for a free app to support developers, but not when they require a purchase in order to make another one

seems as good as the $1k+ Boss guitar synth. it’s all about the latency of your interface… with an m4 iPad and modern interface the performance is amazing. Only wish it would do 96khz in stand alone app

Works perfectly. Everything I’d like to have here is more patches. Thanks to developers!

I use it with my guitar, violin and mandolin on my old iPad 9th gen , It’s super fast with very low latency. I’ve used in the past Roland products like VG-88 or GI and it’s better. I recommend.

Sorry, does work, always fabulous. But wish we saw some action on the beta front in IOS maybe? (4 years is a long time).

Seems like I spent $20 on the virtual midi out component, but it doesn’t apply to the MacOS version, which I would be using just as much if it didn’t require another IAP … but maybe I’m just confused. I do know that the 3rd version of this app in Beta on MacOS looks and sounds awesome.

… just to make a few extra bucks - Yes, thats statement that probably sounds unfair & hyperbolic but let me explain. The dev knows there’s plenty of us who just want to trigger 3rd party virtual instruments via the guitar, aka, sans a lot of what’s in the full version… I’d gladly pay $50-80AUD for this iOS/GB versions except one integral setting has clearly intentionally been omitted, The latency I/O option. I’ve heard it’s to offer the best user experience across iOS generations which ok, maybe that was the case but it’s 2023 & all iPhones currently in support can run this easily - You got an iPhone 14 pro with a A16 bionic? Too bad, you’re limited to 256ms. This app isn’t playable with that much latency & it’s a shame the dev doesn’t want to make any changes (look how long it’s been since updates) since this is a genuine tool for creating but between that limitation & the circa 2002 sales model of “You pay for this twice” to use both iOS & desktop versions then I realised I’d be better going with a fishman triple play midi pickup & you might also
