I’ve been using this app on and off for the past ~4 years or so. Biggest issue is crashing with PDFs that are even moderately bulky. Another major issue is the lack of basic PDF reading features common to other readers, particularly Night Mode. I want to use this as my go-to default research reader, but between the crashing, lack of night mode, and lack of adequate support for Japanese language PDFs, I keep going elsewhere

If you’re in the Apple ecosystem, this is hands down the best PDF reader out there. I go through tons of financial and annual reports, and this app makes it so easy to manage highlights, capture key insights, and sync seamlessly between my iPad and Mac.

Saving one’s place in a document would seem like a basic feature of a reading app, but it doesn’t seem to be a feature of Highlights, unfortunately.

I really wanna love this app, but it’s a deal breaker for me that I can’t do handwriting annotations using Apple Pencil. I never expected an ipad pdf reader to not support Apple Pencil drawing annotations

No logre que desaparezca el numerado de las páginas “Page 1” y es muy molesto al momento de traspasar a pdf los apuntes, ya que te lo pasa por página y no continúo

I used this app for several years to read scientific papers and export notes. Now, it almost always freezes/crashes, doesn’t save my highlights. So frustrating. I can’t rely on it anymore.

If it has Apple Pencil support to highlight, it should also include a direct scribble option like a pencil which I was disapointed that it didn’t have.

Liquid Glass design on iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 with new app icons, transparent toolbars and a floating thumbnail sidebar. The iPad version gains even more desktop-class features with freely resizable windows with window controls, a menu bar and a new sidebar floating above the content. Navigation has been improved and now resemble the macOS version in even more ways. The new menu bar makes it easy to find functionality or the correct window, thanks to the new window titles. The document browser has also been improved and now lets you set the default app for opening PDFs (long press on a file and go to Get Info)! New languages are also available for OCR and text recognition in image selections: Turkish, Indonesian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Malay, Polish, Romanian and Swedish. Minor improvements: - Updated the Introduction Guide - Fixed an issue preventing certain types of internal links and URL-schemes in comments from working - Alert the user when trying to export to apps that are not installed - Tapping on links inside paragraphs of notes no longer toggle the visibility of toolbars - Alert the user when tapping on links using a URL-scheme that have no response - The menu bar can now open Tutorials, What's New and Send Feedback from the document browser - Removed separator line between thumbnails on iOS 26 - Fixed centering of tables in notes - Fixed an edge-case where the bottom toolbar on iOS 18 and earlier would show up without a background color when changing to a compact layout with a document open - The markup palette now hides automatically when the view is not tall enough to fit it - The squeeze tool palette no longer displays underneath the sidebar when close to the left edge - Fixed an issue where the document scanner on an iPhone would not launch if a document was displayed - Fixed a crash related to grabbing image selections on first parse - It is no longer possible to scroll a PDF while dismissing it with an edge swipe
