I needed to use this app for the textbook for my graduate level course in counseling. I’ve used several apps by other publishers, and this one is the least functional I’ve encountered. First, some of the good points: - it remembers what page you left off on reliably - it supports bookmarks and notes - it supports multiple font sizes and color schemes - it page and scroll mode for reading - it will read the text to you,but only the current page Less good: -The index at the front of the book doesn’t include page numbers, if you want to know how much reading you have to do you must to navigate to the end of the chapter to see how many pages it contains, then navigate back to your bookmark or section - long hyperlinks can overwrite the text and sometimes bleed onto the next page -doesn’t support highlighting -navigating the book from the index won’t let you jump to the beginning of a chapter (clicking on the chapter title does nothing) only to the first section. In the case of my text this was usually several pages into the chapter.

Just get kindle. This app constantly turns white so I have to force shut it down. It doesn’t remember what page I’m on if I close the app and I cannot highlight things on different pages with the same block. It is highly inconvenient to review my highlights because it only shows a preview of the whole thing and navigating a book is difficult. In every single way, the kindle app is better. Most the time when I receive a book on this app from my college, I spend the extra money to get the kindle version instead.

One of the best part of etextbooks is that you can highlight and make notes. The highlighter feature frequently doesn’t work and requires me to close the program and open it again. I’m working on an IPad Pro running the most current iOS.

It crashes every time you highlight text. If using inking it goes to a secret location doesn’t show on book that annoying and make inking useless.

The app lags and crashes at times. The notes feature is awful, typing is extremely slow and causes the app to crash. The narrator feature is not the best because the voice options are not very good. On the computer “Ryan” is a good option and is easy to understand. For some reason, Ryan isn’t on the mobile app, so all you have is robotic sounding narrators which makes it hard to understand what is being read.

It’s stupid, I can’t remove highlight and without me doing the highlight it does it to 4 pages automatically on its own. Such a WASTE of time.

The apps read aloud function needs greater development. The iSO app only reads when the phone backlight is on means it stops every minute, then once it finally gets to end of page it’s stops requiring you to log back into your device manually select next page, then go to setting and re- select read aloud again. The speaker quality also needs improvement. It’s like listening to Steven Hawkins version 1.0, very disjointed, it always want to start from top of the page, you cant use a cursor to select where you want it to start. Overall these features need investment better would be true audio like what you get with audible. Continuous reading from beginning to end allowing hands free listening accessibility and an advancement in the speaker lifelike qualities.

The voice over option skips over entire sections of text, and does not finish entire pages. It gets maybe 20% through the first paragraph of a page, skips to the next paragraph, and cuts off mid sentence. I work full time and go to school full time, so the voice over option on RedShelf (the old reading application I used for my textbooks) was incredibly useful. I could listen to my textbooks while I was working or doing chores. Now I have to schedule time out of my day to sit down and read each section rather than just listening to it while I’m completing other tasks.

Missing pages from my book in the mobile version that are on the web version, constantly crashing, no table of contents on the mobile version when there is one on the web version and the mobile version won’t jump pages when inputted. I’ve only been using this app for 20 minutes and it’s completely useless. This is my first time leaving a review on an app and it’s because it’s a complete joke.
