Dash DJ is an iOS App for an iPad that is mounted in the Dashboard of your car. It allows you to play music with the minimum of interactions so you can keep you eyes on the road. It also provides navigation with turn by turn spoken directions.
Dash DJ plays music from your library an album at a time. It will randomly select a new album whenever the currently playing album finishes. If you do not want to play a particular album, just press the "Next Album" button, and it will select another album. You can also choose a specific album from your library (preferably by your passenger, or when you are not driving).
If your iPad is powered by your can accessory power, when you turn off your car, Dash DJ will pause your music, and restart it again from the same place when you turn the car back on and unlock your iPad.
The buttons on Dash DJ will hide when you are not interacting with the App. Just tap the middle of the screen to show the buttons again, or if you already know where the desired button is, just tap that location. The buttons are nice and big so they are easy to find.
Dash DJ navigation is designed to require minimum interaction while you are driving. Before you head off, you can select your destination - either search for a place/street, or place a pin in the map. You can save your destinations as placemarks so they are easy to access once you are on your way.
Dash DJ will give you turn by turn directions as you drive, and speak them to you as you proceed. You may mute the speech for the parts of the route you already know by tapping the instructions text.
Dash DJ will automatically re-route as you drive if you know a better way.
If you return to the Music view while navigating, the Navigation view will show as you approach intersections.
You can select the voice the navigation uses from within Settings->Dash DJ, as well as your preferred units (km/metres, miles/yards, or miles/feet).
The Navigation view also supports Dark Mode.
Dash DJ will switch to a Clock view if it is not playing music for a set time (in Settings->Dash DJ). Just tap the screen to return to the Music view.
Dash DJ will also switch to the Clock view when you remove power.
While powered, Dash DJ disables the auto-lock on your iPad so that it does not turn off. Once you remove power, the auto-lock is re-enabled. This behaviour is customisable in Settings->Dash DJ.
