I run the shot clock for a NCAA D3 school. Our shot clock / scoreboard system locked up during the Women’s game and the officials decided to continue the game with me using a stopwatch and the PA announcer announcing the times as the game went on. Unfortunately there wasn’t an extra stopwatch to use, so I had to use the stopwatch my iPhone. We made it through the Women’s game, but I struggled to keep up since my stopwatch app counts up and a shot clock counts down (my math skills are terribly slow), and also keep an eye on whether the ball hit the rim / flange or not. Before the Men’s game started, I found this app. It was unbelievable how smooth the Men’s game went with using this app. I was able to easily let the PA announcer / officials know how much time was left, quickly reset to 30 or 20 seconds, and also recall the last time. This app actually worked a lot better than our normal shot clock! Even though I believe the NCAA rule book says you can’t use a mobile device for timing (desperate times!), I highly recommend this app to anyone who needs to run an NCAA shot clock.
