Get off the couch and get running with the OFFICIAL Couch to 5K® training app! This oft-imitated program has helped thousands of new runners move from the couch to the finish line. Spend just 20 to 30 minutes, three times a week, for nine weeks, and you’ll be ready to finish your first 5K (3.1-mile) race! Get more information about the Couch to 5K app here: http://www.active.com/mobile/couch-to-5k-app Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. The Couch to 5K coach you select talks to you during your workouts. To save your battery, Couch to 5K sends audio notifications when your screen is locked or another app is in use. To be sure you hear the coach during your workout, please do the following: • Turn on Notifications permissions • Turn on the hardware ring/silent switch (no red showing) • Turn your ringer volume up • Turn off Do Not Disturb (swipe up for Control Panel and the moon button should not be white) • Within the app, in Settings > Workout Options, be sure the Trainer Volume is up Without granting notification permissions, during a workout you can click the lock icon at the top left to keep the app active and still hear the coach. For support please contact us at: MobileSupport@activenetwork.com We would love to hear from you. WINNER of the 2012 Appy Award for best Healthcare & Fitness App! Praise "The popular Couch to 5K app helps new runners avoid injury from doing too much, too soon." —Runners World, June 2012 "It's ridiculously easy to use (it's hard not to, as you just do what you're told) and it's fantastic that you have an encouraging voice talking you through things." —Engadget, June 2012 "Active.com’s Couch to 5K is one of my favorite… apps. With its customizable features, interactivity, and well-rounded interface, I may actually stay off the couch this time." —148Apps, October 2011 "I knew as soon as I decided to start the Couch to 5K program that I would need something to keep me accountable—not just to showing up for my training, but to actually doing it properly. Of course there’s an app for that." —CalorieLab, April 2012 "If you have been struggling to get your buns off the couch and somewhat in shape before the summer hits, training for a 5K is not a bad way to start. If you are looking for a program to help get you there, then the “Couch to 5K” running plan by CoolRunning is probably your best bet if you haven’t done an ounce of athletic activity for a number of years." —Droid Life, April 2012 FAQ • Once you purchase the app, it is yours to keep. It does not expire after 9 weeks.}

Really disappointed with this app, saw the high rating and downloaded without doing any detailed research. $7.99 seemed very reasonable compared to $29.99/3 months on a different app, however after purchasing realised the app on the Apple Watch is useless, you have to have your phone with you to. Anyone who has an Apple Watch with cellular and GPS clearly does not intend on taking their phone with them running!!! So don’t make the same mistake if you’re hoping to use this with an Apple Watch, find a different C25K app!!!

I can’t speak for the free alternatives to this app. There seem to be a lot of options. That said, I definitely appreciate the absence of ads with this version. App works well and is easy to use. I started Week 3 today and the difficulty has definitely increased. However, it has never been more than I was ready for. They seem to have an effective program - not too difficult and not too easy. As for requests for improvements, I would include… 1) I would like the app to be aligned with additional audio programs. It currently is only set up for Apple Music. I use Amazon Music and Apple Podcasts. I’m sure Spotify users would agree. 2) I wish there was more guidance as to pace. I realize this is difficult because we all start from a different place and ability level. But, so far, there has been no mention of if I should moving faster over time. It has been limited to walk, walk briskly, jog, warm up and warm down. I’m not sure if “walk” and “walk briskly” are two different things. I don’t know if “jog” will some day become “run”. And, I’m not sure what an appropriate “warm up” or “warm down” looks like. Currently, my warm up looks like “get water and put on shoes” and my warm down is simply walking another few minutes at the end of my training. All in all, I like the app. In the past I have always burnt out quickly when I tried to start running on my own. This has made me feel like I have someone there to keep me on a plan which is definitely helping keep me going.

I ran cross country and track in high school where it was wonderful to have a coach who planned and led workouts. This app does that by taking the guesswork out of building up your stamina. This reduces injury and increases fun. One strategy I’ve used that might help you: I’ve repeated workouts until my body feels ok with it (I have some residual injuries). Well worth it!

I would love it if you could start your training program over without having to reset all of your history.

Great app, but having to carry my phone is reason for star removed.

As a former fitness professional who is returning to running after injury, this app does a great job of progressing someone from potato to runner … until week five that is. The jump is too much that week. I find it odd how the app makes incremental increases for the first four weeks but then in week five has you going from two 8s with a 5 minute walk to one 20 minute run. That’s a heck of a jump. Also, a three or five second countdown to begin the next interval would be a great improvement.

I use this app to get myself to run. Hard to get myself started without the app, but with it, I am excited to go because it paces me.
