The app doesn’t work on Catalina and App Store won’t let me refund it. There’s no trial period. If you purchased and found it not working with your Mac, you’re screwed. What a scam!

Everything works except that you can’t draw with Apple Pencil pro

As of Nov 2024, the mac companion app is no where to be found!

It is difficult to use it like a Wacom tablet because the hovering function does not work on my iPad. I'm wondering if it's possible to refund some of the money.

On my iPad Air 5th gen, and combined with screen mirroring, this makes my iPad into a visual graphic tablet. You’ll definitely want to connect via usb—it’s lagless at that point. P2P has a slight lag, WiFi is quite clunky. The app says it doesn’t work on ARM’s, but when I borrowed an i9 laptop to get the Mac app and moved it to my M2 Studio, it was just great. The website wouldn’t let my Studio download the Mac app for some reason. Tsk, tsk, Astro.🤣 A rousing success! Did I mention no subscription?

Been using it for a week on my Mac, getting used to it and already considering selling my Wacom tablet. Some stuff to consider: Issues: - Sometimes it gets disconnected. I have to switch to another app or return to the Home screen and then back to the app for it to work again. This happens both wired and wireless. - If the iPad goes to sleep after a couple of minutes of inactivity, the desktop app might crash when trying to reconnect. Setting the iPad’s display to never sleep is not a viable option, ‘cause it’s a global setting and I only want the iPad to stay awake when using this app. I’ve seen some apps that will keep the display active even if the global setting is set to 2 minutes, for example. - Hidden Dock doesn’t get invoked when putting the cursor on the edge of the screen, either with pencil or finger. Wacom tablets and the like can do this without issues. Of course, people with the Dock always visible will laugh at this. Feature requests: - More gestures: I’m so used to three-finger swipes to invoke Mission Control, or to quickly switch between Spaces. Would love if the app could support these. Squeeze and double tap support: Would be awesome to be able to map functions like right-click or pan and scroll to these “buttons”. That would make it more Wacom like. Keep up the good work, Astropad team.

draw a square on the iPad UI, and the output line you draw horizontally is about 5 times the length of the horizontal. No amount of fiddling with the settings can make it right. Utterly unfit for purpose. I’ll be asking for my money back

Virtually no lag when connected via usb, and works as expected. I only wish it had some extra features closer to what Wacom offers. Things like customizable shortcuts per app...sort of like the studios on astropad studio, quick keys, and added support for the Apple Pencil Pro's Tap & squeeze gestures. On the downside, it's practically unusable when connected via wifi. But overall, a good replacement for pen tablets.
