Control your Mac using your iPad and Apple Pencil Astropad Slate turns your iPad into an input device for Mac. Draw, write, and interact seamlessly between your Mac and iPad. · MOUSE AND TRACKPAD: Control your mouse with Apple Pencil; your Pencil mirrors your Mac cursor. It’s like using your iPad as a giant trackpad! · DRAWING INPUT FOR ARTISTS: Use your iPad like a no-screen pen tablet. Draw into your favorite desktop creative programs using your Apple Pencil. · HANDWRITING INPUT: Your handwriting on your iPad transforms into text on your Mac. Write into Slate’s handwriting input box on iPad, and your handwriting will transform into typed text on your Mac. · GESTURE INPUT: Use one and two-finger touch gestures on iPad to scroll and zoom on your Mac, just like a trackpad. · APPLE PENCIL HOVER: Slate works with all Apple Pencils. On newer iPad Pro’s, Slate supports hover functionality. On older iPads, Slate uses simulated hover. ___ HOVER: New iPads WITH Apple Pencil hover. · Move cursor: Move your Apple Pencil over the surface of the iPad. · Click: Tap your Apple Pencil to the screen to click. SIMULATED HOVER: Older iPads WITHOUT Apple Pencil hover. · Move cursor: Lightly drag your Apple Pencil across your iPad screen to move the mouse cursor. The pressure level is adjustable. · Click: Tap your Apple Pencil to the screen to click. ___ CONNECT WIRELESSLY OR WITH USB CABLE · Wired: Connect your Mac and iPad via USB cable for the fastest, lowest latency connection. · WiFi: Make sure your Mac and iPad are connected to the same WiFi network. Performance is dependent on the quality of your WiFi connection. · Peer-to-peer: Connect your devices wirelessly and bypass your WiFi router for faster, more stable performance. Follow the connection instructions in the Slate menu. For connection help, visit help.astropad.com or email us at support@astropad.com ___ CHOOSE YOUR SETUP: SCREEN MAPPING OR MOUSE MODE Slate allows you to choose how your cursor moves on your iPad: · Mouse Mode (Relative Positioning): Your iPad acts like a giant trackpad. Your cursor mirrors your Apple Pencil/finger movements regardless of location on the iPad. · Screen-Mapping (Absolute Positioning): The entire screen of your iPad scales to map your entire Mac display. The mapping is adjustable, similar to a traditional pen tablet. ___ GETTING STARTED WITH ASTROPAD SLATE $19.99 one-time purchase. No subscription required. No hidden fees. 1. There is no way to download the necessary Mac app so there is no reason to buy the iPad app

Very disappointed that I had to pay before I could try as I specifically wanted to use it to create hand written text in illustrator. Doesn’t work and just comes out as a jumbled mess. Is there a way to fix this ? Just can’t believe I had to pay for it!,,,

I had hoped to replace my aging Wacom tablet with my iPad and Apple Pencil, and Slate appeared to be exactly what I was after. Unfortunately there are three issues that meant I’ve had to request a refund. Not necessarily all Astropad’s fault, but issues I can’t ignore for £20. 1. I use multiple monitors and the screen mapping option only lets me select one monitor at a time. Yes, I could use the ‘mouse-like’ setting, but I don’t find this particularly natural. My Wacom allows me to map the entire multi-monitor setup. 2. No way to scroll with the pen. Unlike the Apple Pencil, my Wacom has a button on the pen which helps with this. Astropad can’t magic a button onto the Apple Pencil, but maybe they could add a keyboard shortcut or something to allow pen scrolling the way the Wacom works with the pen button. 3. No pen hover. Obviously not Astropad’s fault, but I don’t have a hover-compatible iPad and constantly having to touch the screen with the pen feels unnatural after years of being able to hover. If Astropad can solve issues 1 and 2, I may come back to Slate. By then I might have upgraded to a hover-capable iPad as well. Guess I’m stuck with Wacom for the time being.

Too erratic to use even with a USB connection between two M4 devices.

This works really well and I probably would have kept it and used it if I could change the scroll direction

Even with a iMac M4 and a brand new iPad Pro this is a very buggy app not worth the money.

I’ve been using this for a few days now and it really is great. It maps perfectly to my 4K screen and the solution for the older Apple Pencils works surprisingly well. I’m even considering upgrading my iPad to take advantage of the hover functionality. Thoroughly recommend this.

The app doesn’t work on Catalina and App Store won’t let me refund it. There’s no trial period. If you purchased and found it not working with your Mac, you’re screwed. What a scam!
