The app is perfect for newbies learning to taste as well as for experienced wine buffs who want to make use of its extensive aroma library.
Here is what the app offers:
• Learn to taste like a sommelier - step by step.
At each stage, you'll get tips on how to taste professionally and what to look out for. What can be deduced from big bubbles in sparkling wine or a grayish-yellow hue? What do “legs” really indicate? What does a very dark red color suggest? Why do wines need acidity, tannins and body? How is the length of the finish measured? With this app you can put your impressions into words and expand your knowledge!
• Understand 300 tasting terms and aromas
Which aromas come from the grape, the climate, and the vineyard? Which ones are created during vinification, and during cellaring? How do aromas develop with age? Which ones are positive / indicate faults? Where do roasted aromas come from? With this app, you'll also be able to draw conclusions about the grape varieties used.
• Describe wines like a pro
After a fun, guided tasting, you'll have a tasting note worth saving, that you can store, share with friends, or copy into other apps, such as Vivino.
• Decode the wine with the analysis tool
When opening your tasting note with this tool, you'll get a summary of all the characteristics with associated detailed information. This way you’ll have an even better understanding and appreciation of your wine.
• Experiment with aroma and taste samples
Have fun training your sense of smell and taste with samples that you prepare yourself. Around 50 recipes are available in the AromaTrail.
