Four of our great apps for making RF related calculations all in one bundle!
RFLinkCalc is a numerical calculation tool for radio engineers. It models the characteristics of an RF link, including Wireless Internet (WiFi) links. You can compute the maximum distance, required transmitter power level, or gain margin.
You enter in all of the following values (except what you are trying to calculate) and RFLinkCalc does the rest!
Frequency in MHz
Transmitter Power in dBm
Transmitter Antenna Gain in dBi
Transmitter Cable Loss in dB
Distance in miles or kilometers
Receiver Sensitivity in dBm
Receiver Antenna Gain in dBi
Receiver Cable Loss in dB
Gain Margin in dB
The Free Space Loss and Received Signal values are also calculated.
The EIRP/ERP Calculator computes the EIRP (Effective Isotropic Radiated Power) and ERP (Effective Radiated Power) in both watts and dBm from the transmitter power and antenna gain. The field strength in dBuV/m is also computed for distances of 3 and 10 meters.
The Field Strength Calculator converts between the following units:
V/m (volts per meter)
dBuV/m (dB relative to one microvolt per meter)
dBuA/m (dB relative to one microamo per meter)
pT (pico Tesla)
dBpT (dB relative to one pico tesla)
Tesla
Gauss
A/m (amperes per meter)
mW/cm² (milliwatts per square centimeter)
W/m² (watts per square meter)
Field Strength Calc helps you determine the received strength of a transmitted signal.
Enter in the transmitter power, antenna gains, distance, and frequency, and the following are calculated:
Field Strength (V/m and dbuV/m)
Wavelength
Received voltage (V, dbuV)
Received signal (dbuV)
Transmission Line Calc allows you to perform several calculations related to RF transmission Lines.
After selecting from one of 47 different transmission lines, you specify the length and operating frequency. The characteristic impedance and velocity factor of the cable is displayed, and the attenuation (loss) as well as electrical length (in wavelengths and degrees) is displayed.
Next, you can specify the impedance (both resistive and reactive) and whether this is measured at the input to the transmission line or the load. The impedance at the other end of the transmission line is calculated, as well as the SWR (Standing Wave Ratio) for both ends.
The loss due to the SWR is then calculated and displayed, as well as the total loss.
Next, you can enter in the input power, and the loss due to the cable as well as SWR is displayed, as well as the net power out.
Supported cable types:
Belden 8215 (RG-6A)
Belden 8237 (RG-8)

Need to quickly convert between various RF signal measurement units? dB Calc performs lots of decibel related conversions:
Decibel / Neper / Ratio Conversions:
Enter in either the dB, Np (nepers), power or voltage ratio, and the other values will be calculated.
Decibel / Power / Voltage Calculations:
Enter in the one known value, and the others will be calculated. Select the correct units before entering in the value. You can change the units of the displayed (calculated values) by selecting the new units. Enter in the resistance before entering in the known value.
The following units are available:
dBmW - dB ref to 1 mW power
dBuV - dB ref to 1 uV
dBu - dB ref to 0.7746 V (audio)
dBV - dB ref to 1 V
uW - microwatts
mW - milliwatts
W - watts
uV - microvolts
mV - millivolts
V - volts
RMS Waveforms Conversions:
Conversion between rms, peak, peak-peak voltage and current values for a user entered resistance. Sine, square, and triangle waveforms are supported.}
