This game offer no real learning. If you get it, you get it. If you don’t, there are no tutorials, no manual to decipher their color scheme on there hints, no real pedagogy at all. Of all their offerings, this one is the most frustrating in this regard as opening play is far from obvious. At least on an end game, you can understand the strategy and just have to sort out the tactics.

The puzzle part is challenging - but the app gives positive encouragement and multiple lines followed. Best part is after working on the game in puzzle-think mode you can play through all the lines and try others. There’s an analysis engine - touch the middle semicircle at the bottom to enter it, and swipe back to return to the lines. Well worth paying for the full book.

I enjoy this app very much. It is fun and instructive and has improved my game and understanding of the opening pitfalls and has sharpened my understanding of tactical possibilities and overall board awareness.
