I avoid almost all news now, as it’s all become so shrieky and partisan. But the FT is different. It’s balanced and calm and not constantly seeking villains. I’d always assumed it was for people who work in finance, but I was wrong.

I’ve been reading the FT for around 40 years. The content is great but the app contains too many video commercials which are especially distracting. I want to focus on articles. Is there a way to stop these autoplaying? I can do so on a browser but not in the app which means that for the time being I prefer reading in a browser.

Not until I’ve paid an annual subscription that I find much of the content is behind paywalls. The app does not differentiate what is premium content is the headlines of each article. Guess who’s cancelled his subscription and won’t be fooled again. Didn’t I read somewhere that these legacy news organizations are losing subscribers? One wonders why?

The app quite literally sucks. All it has to do is display some text and the occasional video - not very complicated in today’s environment. When switching between the FT and other iOS apps, the page jumps up/down. This means you’re constantly scrolling up/down to find where u were. This is even worse when are you in an area with poor connection. I believe it’s due to ads reloading. You’d think with the exuberant subscription cost that you wouldn’t even have ads…

FT has one of the best user interface(s) . I like the ease with which I can follow my favorite journalists. The portfolio interface is not intuitive (for me). That is a nuisance,

For some reason, whenever you click any FT link or open an FT article from outside the app, it will open up in your browser and never in the app. WSJ, NYT apps do not do this—they will conveniently open the article up in the app where you’re logged in and not paywalled. Also, the app’s search functionality is terrible. So when I click on an FT link from outside and it opens up, paywalled, in the browser, I often open up the FT app to search for the article. But I type in the headline word for word, and it doesn’t show up in the search results

In a world of opinions being called news, it is good that you can still get real fact based news, often told with a slight dash of humour. There are opinion articles, but they are called opioion articles, which is nice.

I’ve been reading the FT for years. The content is great but the app contains too many ads. The video ones are especially distracting. Is there a way to stop these autoplaying?

This is the 4th time I’ve had the following occur: - App Updates - All scrolling within the app is lagged and phone heats up while app is running - Fixed by re-install and sign-in Not sure what the issue is but I hope FT’s mobile app devs can figure this out. It’s been a problem for months.
