Get your ideas down quickly with Nocturne. When a complete studio in your pocket is overkill, Nocturne gives you the immediate freedom to improvise and iterate. Just connect your MIDI device to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch (adapters may be required) and tap record. Nocturne works great with electric pianos and supports not just the sustain pedal, but also the soft and sostenuto pedals so you can capture the most complete, faithful MIDI representation of your performance. Or, if you're away from your MIDI controller, use the on-screen piano keyboard to save your idea. When you're done, tap the track to hear it and drag the yellow bar left and right to review a specific part. When you’ve got something worth keeping, share your MIDI file with a computer for additional editing and mastering. Nocturne is ready to capture one or more takes of your song at a moment’s notice, so when inspiration strikes, ditch the “smart” bands and granular settings and focus on playing instead.}

This app should be removed from the App Store - it's a complete rip-off. Says it's a MIDI recorder. It's actually a KEYBOARD ONLY midi tecorder. I attached my Akai MPD218 MIDI pad controller with the intention of recording a finger drum part only to discover the app does not support anything other than piano notes.

I can’t get the recordings off the App to use elsewhere, nor can I use Bluetooth keyboard to record

Like the others I have found that the timing is off on recording and importing. I have noticed that the recording is about two clicks faster than the actual tempo that I played. If it was just a solo piece that’s not an issue but if I’m trying to line it up with other tracks it becomes an issue and I have to adjust it in post which is not ideal. I would be curious if the developers had any input as to why it would be several clicks faster in the recording?

I don’t see any option in the Settings to connect my MIDI device (in my case a Bluetooth wireless MIDI that is paired with my iPad, and is “connected”). All I see is a virtual keyboard. The product description is misleading and if I don’t get the option to record using a digital keyboard (not a virtual keyboard), then I should not even be paying for this app. It’s too bad because I’m one of the earliest owners of ForScore and I expected the quality of Nocturne to be on par as ForScore.

I actually bought this thinking there was a retrospective midi capture feature. As I am exploring pieces I want to capture it but I may not have recorded it. What is so hard about implementing this!!!

Nice idea but the execution really isn’t there. Every time I try to record more than 10 seconds it lags behind and cuts off the rest of my playing once I press stop. Not really even worth a couple bucks.

I love this cute little app, a great creativity tool free of all those distractions you find in a DAW. However, it has a serious flaw. I'm using the iPad version with a bluetooth enabled digital piano (Kawai ES100). I want all the sounds (except the metronome) to be generated by my piano. I selected MIDI playback in the setup menue, and playback works like a charm. However, when recording, the app keeps echoing the midi to my keyboard (with the delay typical of bluetooth midi), so I get an annoying doubling effect of every note. Please, please - fix this! Thanks in advance. Greetings from Norway.
