Threatened and Priority Plants of the Pilbara Version 2.0 Threatened and Priority Plants of the Pilbara is a field guide and identification tool for the 192 Threatened and Priority flora known from the Pilbara bioregion. In addition to those taxa that have been scientifically named, it also covers taxa that have not yet been named and are listed on the Census of Western Australian Plants under phrase names. It includes all species listed as conservation taxa at the start of 2025 by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions which occur in the Pilbara bioregion. Developed as a collaboration project between Rio Tinto and the Western Australian Herbarium, Threatened and Priority Plants of the Pilbara provides one of the most comprehensive and up-to-date information products available on these rare and important plants, and will provide a useful guide for environmental consultants, botanists, traditional owners, industry environmental officers, conservation planners and others with a need to understand the flora of the Pilbara. Each species is represented by a profile page including vernacular name, a botanical description, spotting features, and notes on ecology and distribution. All species are illustrated with the latest available images, and the current distribution is mapped. Species profiles can be accessed by taxon name and filtered by botanical family or using simple features such as habit, flower colour and habitat. No guarantees or warranty, expressed or implied, including warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are made as to the currency, accuracy, quality, completeness, availability or usefulness of data, information, apparatus, product, or process disclosed, provided through this service, and no responsibility or legal liability is assumed for any damages or inconvenience arising from its use. All information is packaged in the app, allowing Threatened and Priority Plants of the Pilbara to be used in the field in remote localities without web connections. This means that the app is a large download so, depending on connection speed, it may take several minutes to download. The Government of Western Australia acknowledges the traditional owners throughout Western Australia and their continuing connection to the land, waters and community. We pay our respects to all members of the Aboriginal communities and their cultures; and to Elders both past and present.
