Despite there being more than 500,000 words in the English language, 100 common words make up nearly 50% of what we read and the 320 common words in HFW2 will represent about 60%+ of the words a child will read in their school years. HFW2 addresses all the lessons learned from our original popular HFW App and greatly improves the learning process by ensuring the child can hear the word spoken, see the word written, spell the word, identify the word in several games and repeatedly say the word correctly. Using HFW2 will accelerate development of this key vocabulary for children and once they know the words it will measurably improve your Childs reading ability. HFW2 does not use phonics but can work alongside phonics programmes. The child can choose from 16 sets of 20 words and start learning with the new 'Learn and Speak' game mode which uses the latest Speech Recognition technology to evaluate your child's pronunciation! You can also select the 'Listen and Learn' mode which guides the child through the words in a friendly and approachable manner. The 'Learn and Speak' words are colour coded after the child has attempted them which allows you to easily see which words they have mastered and where they might need some improvement. There are no levels or progress blocks. The child is always free to choose the word set they wish to learn at any time and they may choose whichever game they like to help consolidate their word recognition. The app contains 12 games which all aim to reinforce the child's learning through play. These games require the child to really demonstrate their knowledge through: - Multiple Choice: The child hears a word being read aloud and must select the matching written text. - Flower Spelling: Spell out the selected word by tapping on the letter flowers. - All Words: Find and tap the correct word being spoken aloud from a grid of words. - Alphabetical Order: Sort the words alphabetically by dragging them across the screen. - Spotlight: Use your spotlight to find the letter bugs hiding in the garden, then spell out the word they make. - Find Words: Find the spoken words hidden in the big word jumble. - Word Smash: Separate and sort the letters from two words by tapping on the letter bugs. - Keyboard Spelling: Look, Learn, Cover and Repeat the select word with the on-screen keyboard. - Connect Words: Match the spoken audio to the correct word by drawing lines from one box to the other. - Say the Word: The child can test all of their new word knowledge gained by speaking into their device and having their pronunciation evaluated.}
