If you are practising neurology or vestibular rehabilitation you should be testing subjective visual vertical in your patients. It has been shown to be a sensitive and reliable test for brainstem lesions and is one of the few tests available for otolithic function.
However, up until now testing subjective visual vertical required costly and bulky equipment. The Visual Vertical application for iphone and ipad changes all that. With just your iphone, some bluetack and a bucket (yes really, a bucket!) you can take accurate readings in just a few minutes, for a tiny fraction of the normal cost.
This version of the app includes the ability to take multiple readings of the eyes and produces averaged results, as well as containing the ability to do single, one off readings.}
