FameLab – Talking Science
FameLab is the world’s leading science communication competition. It spotlights the science communicators of tomorrow, who can show off their area of expertise in a truly engaging way.
Communicating science is an ever-growing priority for researchers worldwide. By making complex ideas accessible and attractive to the public they inspire future generations of scientists, increase general understanding of science and its role in society, and generate support and funding for their work.
Cheltenham Festivals launched the first FameLab in 2005, and in 2007 partnered with British Council to take the model worldwide. Since then more than 9,000 scientists have participated from all around the globe.
FameLab in Hungary
The first ever FameLab in Hungary in 2018 was being co-organised by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the British Council. By downloading the FameLab app, you can stay up to date with the events of the competition, find all relevant information, submit your registration and vote on your favourite speaker at the final.

Finalists will join an exclusive two-day masterclass led by expert UK trainers, building their skills in communication. National winners then travel to Cheltenham Science Festival for the FameLab International Final.
The competition is open to those 18 years or older who are studying or working in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
Participants have three minutes to win over the judges and public with a scientific talk that excels for its content, clarity and charisma.

HUNGARIAN:
A FameLab a világ egyik vezető tudomány-kommunikációs versenye. Célja, hogy felfedezze azokat az embereket, akik a 21. század közönsége számára inspirálóan és izgalmasan tudnak beszélni fontos témákról.
A versennyel, annak támogatásával az Apple semmilyen módon nem áll kapcsolatban.
A tudomány hatékony kommunikációja világszerte egyre fontosabb a kutatók számára. Sikereik és eredményeik inspirálják a jövő generációit, és egyúttal fogékonyabbá teszik a nagyközönséget az összetett kérdések iránt.
A FameLab a brit Cheltenham Tudományos Fesztiválról indult 2005-ben, 2007 óta a British Council közreműködésével nemzetközivé fejlődött. Az elmúlt tíz évben több mint 9000 fiatal kutató vett részt rajta a világ minden tájáról. A résztvevők sikeres, hatékonyan kommunikáló kutatók lesznek, és egyúttal egy széles nemzetközi közösség részévé is válnak.
A résztvevőknek három percük van, hogy meggyőzzék a zsűrit és a közönséget a tehetségükről egy olyan előadással, amelynek értékelésében a tartalom, a közérthetőség és a személyes karizma egyaránt számít. Az első fordulóban kiválasztott résztvevők egy kétnapos tudománykommunikációs mesterkurzuson vesznek részt, amelyet a téma legjobb brit és magyar szakértői tartanak. Az országos döntő első helyezettje pedig részt vesz a FameLab nemzetközi döntőjén a júniusi Cheltenham Fesztiválon.
A British Councillal együttműködve 2018-ban a Magyar Tudományos Akadémia szervezte az első FameLab versenyt Magyarországon. A FameLab alkalmazás letöltésével közvetlenül értesülhet a versennyel kapcsolatos hírekről, információkról, leadhatja jelentkezését és szavazhat kedvencére a döntőn.
Regisztrálhat mindenki, aki elmúlt 18 éves, és műszaki, természettudományi, orvosi, matematikai vagy informatikai területen folytat tanulmányokat vagy kutatást, vagy középiskolában oktat. A hazai fordulók nyelve magyar, de a nyertesnek a nemzetközi döntőben angolul kell előadnia.}
