***** MARCH UPDATE ***** 20 new puzzles, 100 puzzles total! ------------------------------------- Presented by Cracking The Cryptic, YouTube’s most popular Sudoku channel, comes a new game featuring one of the most popular puzzle types: Thermo Sudoku. How does Thermo Sudoku work? Well each sudoku grid contains thermometer shapes (often drawn to create themes) and digits on thermometers must increase as one moves further from the bulb end. The interactions between the thermometers leads to new logical ideas and patterns that completely refreshes the standard sudoku solving experience. As with their other games (‘Classic Sudoku’, ‘Sandwich Sudoku’ and ‘Chess Sudoku’), Simon Anthony and Mark Goodliffe (the hosts of Cracking The Cryptic) have personally crafted the hints for the puzzles. So you know that every puzzle has been play-tested by a human being to ensure that the sudoku is interesting and fun to solve. In Cracking The Cryptic’s games, players start with zero stars and earn stars by solving puzzles. The more puzzles you solve, the more stars you earn and the more puzzles you get to play. Only the most dedicated (and cleverest) sudoku players will finish all the puzzles. Of course the difficulty is carefully calibrated to ensure lots of puzzles at every level (from easy through to extreme). Anyone familiar with their YouTube channel will know that Simon and Mark take pride in teaching viewers to be better solvers and, in these games, they always craft the puzzles with the mindset of trying to help solvers improve their skills. Mark and Simon have both represented the UK many times at the World Sudoku Championship and you can find more of their puzzles (and lots of others) on the internet’s biggest sudoku channel Cracking The Cryptic. Features: 100 beautiful puzzles Hints crafted by Simon and Mark!}

While the app comes with “only” 100 Sudokus, all of them are very well made. Even the easy ones take a few minutes to solve and the hard ones may even keep you busy for an hour or more. I found the puzzles to be challenging but fair. My only complaint is, that with the latest app version running on iOS 17.2 the time tracking seems to be somewhat broken, sometimes adding hours to the recorded solve time. When locking the phone while a puzzle is open, chances are, that a few extra minutes will be added to the timer _after_ unlocking the phone (you can see the timer change in one big step). The difference is also much bigger than the time the phone was locked and can quickly add tens or hundreds of hours within a a few minutes. It seems to be somewhat dependent on the pre-lock value and not really linked to the lock time; the bigger the time the more time gets added. The highest change I observed was 980 added hours within a 5 second screen lock. Which is also why the app tells me, that it took me just over 40000 hours (4.5 years) to solve level #100, which was released less than two years ago…

Easy to use app with plenty of puzzles, most are more difficult than easy but all are well constructed with replay value. Took me forever to do some but got there I. The end, will certainly but the others as well!

Lovely puzzles, in a good app. Nice to see the “smart hint” option appearing, but in my testing most of the time they’re not very smart, suggesting things I’ve already spotted. Some niggles preventing 5 stars: - when all of a particular number are placed, many Sudoku apps (including some of your other ones) grey out that number from the available selection. This app doesn’t. - the navigation around the parts of the app is not easy to understand. I got quite lost try to get back to the game from the settings menu (which would be a more obvious name than Gameplay) - when you go to the gameplay settings and back to the current game, all the move history is lost, so you cannot undo - the erase function never works like I expect it to. - keyboard navigation incomplete, and arrow keys often don’t register. Should be like the web app from CTC which can do everything by keyboard. BTW, you only have 2 months to publish another 20 levels, to keep to the promise you made on launch.

I really enjoy doing sudoku on this software, and I enjoy the Thermo puzzles, up to the point where they get too hard. Puzzle #79 is ridiculously hard. I got as far as could, starting looking at hints and could not get past the fourth hint, i understand what it’s trying to say but it doesn’t fit the puzzle and no progress can be made from this hint unless you just take it on faith you should remove the candidates it says to. I think if people want super hard puzzles they can find them on their own, no need to include such convoluted logic in a mass marketed app. I have had this trouble with other cracking the cryptic apps too, the last few puzzles are just stupid hard and make me wanna shoot myself in the head

Very cool variant of Sudoku. Comfortable app with very nice possibilities to do remarks. I like it! Can‘t wait for releasing additional level! Update 25. Feb. 2021: Currently only 60 of the promised 100 puzzles are available. When will you release the next puzzles? I still love this app.

I have now discovered two different puzzles with multiple solutions. The first one was easy to find the right solution, but the second one is less straightforward.

Loved playing these! I wish the hints were a bit easier to understand but otherwise a great app!

Love the content of this app, but I liked it more before the latest update. The look and feel of this new version seems like a step backwards from what it was before. The actual gameplay is great and unchanged from previous, but it’s the menu layout that I find unsatisfactory. Ultimately not a huge deal, but it’s frustrating when it was fine as it was.

It is an amazing game with great puzzles. I really recommend it. But, like I already wrote about the classic sudoku: I like the old menu design way more than the new one. Also, it is annoying that the sorting method always resets.
