I didn’t realize this game has been in the App Store for so many years. This game is definitely a visual and auditory feast. It’s fun for what it is especially those into the old school Missile Command. A few nits though. There’s a fairly useless graphic on the left side that tends to mask an incoming missile. I can’t figure out how often the missile launchers get resupplied. It seems random. And that gets to be an issue at higher waves. I have not been able to get past wave 33 or 34. And if somehow I did I wouldn’t last much longer. At that point you’re overwhelmed with incoming missiles while I’m only down to a handful of missiles. The game seems designed with a limited number of waves, making it impossible to reach 40 waves.

Used to play this on my iPhone 3 and I realized that they still have this game on the App Store so now I’m playing it on my iPhone 11

Okay for 5 minutes, then deleted it. Bit repetitive. Scores not saved to a leaderboard.

I really enjoy this flashback to the early years of gaming it’s been brilliant. I do however have some issues that really need addressing for longevity of the game. Firstly, after regularly achieving a top 5 score I now find that the game has automatically ramped up the difficulty from round 1 which is not a good thing. If I am to try and set scores with other players I want to be on a fair footing ie the vanilla version. Secondly the reloads need to be reworked as they are too slow and seem to be structured with the so called random drop timing to add to the missiles incoming difficulty in order to kill the player quickly. Just the scale of missile barrage is sufficient enough to be a hard task let alone having tricky drop reload timing to add to this. Also at higher waves the nukes don’t seem to destroy all on screen missiles especially those at low altitudes. Sneaky missiles coming from behind the sector map are just that. Need an option to remove HUD. Finally certain missiles just blow through explosions in higher waves when racing in to take out player launchers. I really do like this modern take on the classic which has updated everything that made the original so addictive, I just think that for me personally to maintain the pull of playing regularly those little points would need a polish. Other than that, well done team. Always looking for more classic remakes as the modern tech just screams out to remake the halcyon years of gaming. Today there are just no real fresh ideas and the classics were great but modernised could really be true gaming gems.
