Keep your conversations private. Proton Mail is encrypted email from Switzerland. Used by millions worldwide, our all-new email app protects your communications and has everything you need to easily manage your inbox. The Wall Street Journal says: “Proton Mail offers encrypted email, which makes it virtually impossible for anyone to read it except the sender and the recipient.” With the all-new Proton Mail app, you can: • Create a @proton.me or @protonmail.com email address • Send and receive encrypted emails and attachments with ease • Switch between multiple Proton Mail accounts • Easily manage your email with conversations • Keep your inbox tidy and clean with folders, labels and simple swipe-gestures • Receive new email notifications • Send Password-protected Emails to anyone • Enjoy your inbox in dark mode Why use Proton Mail? • Proton Mail is free — We believe everyone deserves privacy. Upgrade to a paid plan to get more done and support our mission. • Easy to use — Our all-new app has been redesigned to make it easier to read, organize, and write your emails. • Your inbox is yours — We don’t spy on your communications to show you targeted ads. Your inbox, your rules. • Rigorous encryption — Your entire inbox is secured, on all your devices. No one can read your emails but you. Proton is privacy, guaranteed by end-to-end and zero-access encryption. • Unmatched protection — We offer strong phishing, spam, and spying/tracking protection for all your communications. Industry Leading Security Features Messages are stored on Proton Mail servers using end-to-end encryption at all times and are transmitted securely between Proton servers and user devices. This largely eliminates the risk of message interception. Zero Access to Your Email Content Proton Mail's zero access architecture means that your data is encrypted in a way that makes it inaccessible to us. Data is encrypted on the client side using an encryption key that Proton does not have access to. This means we don't have the technical ability to decrypt your messages. Open-Source Cryptography Proton Mail's open-source software has been thoroughly vetted by security experts from around the world to ensure the highest levels of protection. Proton Mail only uses secure implementations of AES, RSA, along with OpenPGP, while all of the cryptographic libraries used are open source. By using open-source libraries, Proton Mail can guarantee that the encryption algorithms used do not have clandestinely built-in back doors. Proton Mail in the press: “Proton Mail is a Gmail-like email system which uses end-to-end encryption, making it impossible for outside parties to monitor.” Forbes “A new email service being developed by a group who met at MIT and CERN promises to bring secure, encrypted email to the masses and keep sensitive information away from prying eyes.” Huffington Post Follow Proton on social media for all the latest news and offers: Facebook: /proton Twitter: @protonprivacy Reddit: /protonmail Instagram: /protonprivacy Our open-source code base: https://github.com/ProtonMail EULA: http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/appstore/dev/stdeula}

Several times logged out of the app due to the "inactivity" or whatnot. In several days timeframe. is that a security/privacy feature?

Very good pricing, pretty simple set up, nice LOOKING UX, but the interface is seriously hampered in the way it organises your individual mailboxes. I have 15 and it took a while to filter into separate boxes and it’s still, not a great result, like a mail folder from when you only had about one address. Very counter intuitive. Also Proton Bridge is pointless with your own client, it’s like they’ve emptied a jigsaw into your Mac Mail inbox but forgot to give you the box. Been complained about for years, so disappointed the energy has gone into design/looks rather than ease of use. Still, for value and power, it’s pretty great.

I tried to sign up for unlimited through apple I was charged 3 times but still says I have free subscription. I attempted to report issue through proton app and after filling it out it wouldn’t allow me to submit. Been using proton for 15 years. Never again

The last two months there seem to have been various changes in the app making the app unusable for serious business use. Deletion of mail seems impossible through the app, annoying and superfluous pop-ups appear on places where they cover access to relevant button. Website has similar issues appearing that were not there previously. Without the digital sovereignty issue, we would move back to Microsoft.

When you use NordVPN the app does not show any details in settings. „Incorrect Locator“. An app advertised with privacy and encryption but can’t be used with VPN.

Just wish it would show me all emails when I start the app. I always have to go to the all emails folder before I can see the emails received from the separate dummy accounts.

As of 12/1/2025, App still having issues as below. Some new problems include having to delete some emails several times. Former Review: Latest Update Causing Problems ... Again... I really am trying to be patient because I realize with all the updates Apple, etc. are doing with AI and all that affect these Apps. But I am getting tired. So much so that I want to ditch smartphones altogether. I have more important things to do with the time I have left on this earth. This time, the App is glitchy in not recognizing emails that have been read. They often list them bold and unread. As well, trying to compose an email I noticed part of it disappeared. I did not delete anything. So I decided to send it to myself first. Nothing was in the Message area. As well, the Sorting of Labels is still causing issues. They will show up sorted in the App but NOT sorted from within an email when you are adding the label. The work around has been to sign into the website version.

Talk about complicated, you may get 10-15 free emails but you’ll never use them because you have to sign in and out of each email separately what a let down. Sorting this out should be a priority, please!!so many other bugs, so much promise but so much let down. I signed up for the duo 2Tb package and thankfully there is 30 to try out and ask for refund. I’ve spent an afternoon struggling with uploads, backups, finding information. Huge sales talk, not user friendly, such a shame.
