Hey you!
Thanks so much for joining the Lily Pad Army. My name is Katie Cates, I am the proud owner of The Lily Pad Shop. A little about me, I am the wife to an amazing husband and momma to a handsome young boy. We are currently living “our best life” in Jackson, TN. I’ve always dreamt of having my own shop, but it was only after some time and life experiences that when the moment felt right I could finally say when to make it happen. I’ve worked in a big box store and quickly got promoted from customer service to the manager - then shortly after that I began to travel to train employees on merchandising. I spent years working desk jobs to make ends meet, you got to do what you gotta do, right? I never gave up on my dream and couldn’t stop thinking about owning my own boutique that I could help design the unique style and sophisticated fashion that I feel so strong about. I thoroughly enjoy helping women find the perfect ensemble for her every day, busy life – blending professional, party and just plain pretty. I feel beyond blessed to have now launched my very own online shop, The Lily Pad!
Why The Lily Pad Shop?
Growing up my Memaw, on my maternal side, was the heart & soul of our family. In her little sunroom, she drank coffee and hand wrote many letters to her friends and family. She had her “me” time inside that room, it was her oasis. As she grew older, so did her home. The sunroom foundation had actually begun to break away from the rest of the home. It was during that time, a small little frog would show up in the room with my Memaw and become incredibly special to her. She used to tell me, “When I pass away, if you see a frog just know it’s me visiting.” My Memaw was very fashionable! She was neatly dressed up and always looked beautiful. Even at home her motto was always ‘Fix your hair and makeup, you never know who may stop by.’ On August 8 th , 2020, I sat in bed talking to my husband about what to name my new online shop, unable to sleep
with the excitement and name just bursting to come forth. I wanted something meaningful, but a part of me also wanted something quirky. He asked me to name something or someone that meant a lot to me. Immediately Memaw came to mind, I soon remembered the infamous frog and my mind started racing. It was then I yelled out LILY PAD! That same night when I went outside before going to sleep, right before my eyes a frog leaped towards me! I knew at that moment my Memaw was with me and that I made the right decision on choosing the name.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little about me how The Lily Pad Shop came to be. My passion is to make everyone feel beautiful by what goes on their own skin. This is my promise to you as well as my tribute to my wonderful grandmother my Memaw, Peggy McCool Scott.
