Description (

From music producers to casual users, SNAP will help you create great drum patterns in any musical style, on the fly, with your fingertips. SNAP can also help you in the studio, by providing seamless variations of your patterns, under your complete interactive control. Program or load drum patterns, store your favorite variations, and export them to your DAW, all on a continuous and free-flowing loop/fashion. SNAP is also a powerful tool for your live sessions, providing you with subtle or radical changes, from sudden drops to ecstatic crescendos, all fully and instantaneously controllable under your fingertips. and now with MOTION CONTROL Motion control is the first step towards a whole new dimension of control for your drums; you can use your iPhone to trigger the snapshots of your session. There are four distinct gestures, identified using the latest in machine learning technology, which enable you to jump seamlessly between snapshots with your movements. You can also use the gestures done using your iPhone, to control a remote instance of SNAP running on an iPad that is connected to the same wireless network for an interactive, multi-device musical performance. SNAP can communicate with your music apps, drum machines, DAWs and other musical equipment via MIDI OUT and Ableton Link. SNAP’s full integration with Native Instrument’s Maschine Jam, allows it to communicate bidirectionally to become its “drumming brain”. Compatibility with other control devices will be rolled-out progressively. SNAP provides: - Motion Control, control your patterns using your movements. - 8 drum voices, each one with its own continuous density controller. - 4 different intelligent syncopation/reinforcement algorithms, independently selectable for each drum voice. - MIDI IN and OUT integration (Available as an In-App purchase). - Ableton Link synchronization support. - 8 snapshot slots for storing, recalling and updating drum patterns on the fly. -16 specially designed drum kits - Sessions and patterns covering different styles to get you started right away.}

I am giving 5 stars because this app has potential and to encourage development but it's as if they created the app and went to sleep. I read a 2 year old review and the dev responded something about the app evolving. Has it evolved? What is added as far as midi with an in app purchase? Not clear. I find it expensive, although that doesn't really bother me personally. It's just that too many users only buy cheap apps; why, I don't know. I buy the ones that I think I will enjoy. Who cares about spending the cost of a coffee and donut to have fun for years. Looking forward to the app evolving, or was that just bull?

No mixer, no solo (that I can find), no pitch contril, no FX Can't get gestures to work. Have to tap on init to change drum kit so that's totally unintuitive. Can't swap out drums from different kits/create your own kit. Just good for creating up to 8 quick basic patterns that you can change up on the fly without losing your saved pattern so worth buying the midi out iap if it will let you control hardware but I haven't tested that. I assume each drum track/channel is on a seperate midi channel? Nice idea for what it does but could be much better.

App worked great for 2 days, then started getting crackling distortion from the speaker. I tested other music programs and music to see if it was an issue with my phone’s speaker and it isn’t. I tried deleting and reinstalling the app twice and restarting my phone, but still the same issue. It’s truly a shame. This was a great, straight forward sequencer to work on drum pattern ideas when I’m not near my studio. I hope this gets fixed. If so, I definitely want to pay for the saving and midi features.

In 1.1.1 we added some things: - Inter-app Audio enabled! we fixed some things as well: - Fixed a bug that cause the app to crash on certain devices when using the Motion Control interactive tutorial (only available for iPhone). - Fixed a button not drawing correctly in iPhone X. - Fixed a bug that was stopping Ableton Link from working properly, and sometimes the 'Send over WiFi" would stop working too. Thank you for your quick feedback that allows us to find these things that never happen in our office. Keep the feedback coming In 1.1.0 we introduced: ============== MOTION CONTROL ============== With motion control, you can use your iPhone to trigger the snapshots of your session. There are four distinct gestures, identified using the latest in machine learning technology, which enable you to jump seamlessly between snapshots with your movements. Just perform the gestures to hear the results! Check out the in-app tutorial to get started (iPhone only). You can also use the gestures done using your iPhone, to control a remote instance of SNAP running on an iPad that is connected to the same wireless network for an interactive, multi-device musical performance. This is the first step towards a whole new dimension of control for your drums. More new stuff: As requested, we added a MIDI note selector (in the settings page) so you can control which notes SNAP uses in its MIDI output. We also added some new factory sessions to inspire you, and we bashed a few bugs here and there.
