I rarely write reviews, especially negative ones, but after using the P-Gear app for over a year I feel I need to share my experience. Unfortunately, the app is the weakest link of the whole system. 1. Ads: Every single time I open the app, I’m forced to sit through the same advertisement. There seems to be no option to remove it, which quickly becomes frustrating. 2. Connection issues: I use the P610 with my motorcycle on track. More often than not, the app fails to connect to the device. I usually need several attempts before it finally works. 3. Lap recording reliability: Even when the P610 is connected and has clear sky visibility, many laps simply don’t get recorded. For a product marketed as a track tool, this is unacceptable. 4. Closed ecosystem: What makes this worse is that the GPS data appears to be encrypted, which means I’m locked into using only this app. I would happily use better third-party lap timer apps, but this is not possible. The P610 itself seems like capable hardware, but the poor software makes the whole package frustrating and unreliable. Considering the price, this leaves a very bad aftertaste. Either the app needs major improvements, or P-Gear should allow their devices to be used with other platforms.

L’app è piuttosto piena di bug, perlomeno sulla versione per ios. Il dispositivo in sé è caro quindi pensavo che ci fosse un ottimo lavoro nel lato software, invece l’app ti sbatte fuori spesso e mancano un sacco di possibilità di personalizzazione., Come per esempio la possibilità di registrare almeno in full HD, la possibilità di mettere dei commenti personali su ogni misurazione, la voce che ti dice il tempo quando nella modalità tracciato passi in un settore e tante altre piccole minuziose che non sto ora ad elencare.

Die Videofunktion ist ein schlechter Witz, mit dem iPhone X kann ich nur 720p auswählen. Außer das Speichern eines Screenshots finde ich keine Möglichkeit die gemessenen Daten zu exportieren, um sie z.B. als Overlay über GoPro Videos zu legen. Über iTunes und File Sharing kann man sich zwar die sqlite Datenbanken anschauen, allerdings sind die Werte verschlüsselt. Wirklich schade, dass ein so teures Produkt eine solch schlecht bedienbare App hat, welche wegen der Datenverschlüsselung dann nicht mal gegen Harry‘s Lap Timer oder RaceChrono ersetzt werden kann.

Findet kaum GPS. Heute fuhr ich eine Stunde rum. Konnte keine einzige Messung starten. Nicht zu empfehlen.

Saves me $20 every time I go to the track because I don’t have to rent a transponder and it’s very very accurate. I guess it works on 20Hz gps, so it’s the real deal. Much better than Dragy and cheaper and more convenient than other comparable lap timers!

Video mit knapp 46 min Länge aufgezeichnet was nicht wiedergegeben werden kann. Im “Correction Mode” kommt “no results generated” und im “Default Mode” stürzt das Programm bei exakt 41% reproduzierbar ab. Dies alles auf einem aktuellen iPhone 12 mini.

Ich kann kein Video aufnehmen mit den vorgegeben Race Modi. Da sucht er dann ewig nach GPS. Video mit Custom (zb 99-200) geht. Total komisch

With the update to version 1.6 the App shows meter intsread of ft if a Kilometer metric is selected. Thumb Up! Also the new Leaderboard overview looks very good. And since the Update the 1 foot rollout function is also available. Great Job!
