Having totally failed at languages at school using the traditional phrase & grammar learning techniques, I eventually became bilingual when living and working in France. It was then that it dawned on me that it is only by immersion that you will truly absorb and assimilate a language to the point where it becomes effortless and natural. There also has to be the motivation which comes through learning the language via subjects of interest or necessity, (eg work, daily life). Having trawled the market for learning techniques that facilitated this process in order to learn other languages, none of them were successful until I found Lingq which I’ve now been using for over 5 years. Lingq enables me to immerse myself by daily reading starting with the simple mini-stories it provides right through to importing ebooks on subjects that interest me, (this is key to keeping the motivation), together with regular listening either through importing audio/video content or AI generated audio from text or articles. Whilst we all learn in different ways, I believe Lingq has the flexibility to be adapted to most if not all language learner requirements and I can’t recommend it highly enough. However, I would strongly recommend that any user listens to Steve Kaufman’s regular YouTube videos/podcasts and I wish Lingq incorporated a library of these as they are integral to understanding the principals behind the Lingq methodology, enabling you to get the most out of it and to become a successful language learner.

Once you are past the complete beginner stage this app is an absolutely brilliant learning tool. It enables you to work with authentic language that you can tailor to suit yourself. The review system can also be adapted by the learner to suit their own learning needs and learning style. It treats the learner as an adult and it’s the most engaging and self-empowering language learning system I’ve found.

an Themen anzusetzen, die interessieren, Auswahl der Themen und Musik den Lernenden zu überlassen. Anleitung oder Führung durch Nutzungsmöglichkeiten könnten übersichtlicher sein. Es bleibt die Frage, ob ich die Möglichkeiten in der für mich optimalen Art nutze

I’m sure it’s probably a good app but not for complete beginners. Unusable for newbies.

I love it. Progressing faster with my Greek using this than I was when I used a different popular language learning app. I like the stories as well as the option to regularly review vocabulary.

A lot of material but many mistakes. The sound is different from text . It’s impossible to learn because I don’t know grammar

The reading items can be a bit boring to read, it could offer some more exciting material and not just technical descriptions of the course. It’s is still a good reading platform
