Live AUv3 MIDI Effects/Toolbox
Description (

MIDI Tools is a suite of AUv3 MIDI audio units for iOS that lets you manipulate the MIDI messages inside your DAW’s effects chain, creating complex or otherwise impossible MIDI routings or effects. The app contains 8 MIDI audio units in a single package, which can be loaded in compatible hosts (BeatMaker 3, Cubasis 2, AUM, ApeMatrix etc.). Make sure your host is capable of loading, transmitting to, and receiving MIDI from audio unit MIDI effects. They’re intended to augment existing MIDI processing capabilities, or in scenarios where a host doesn’t provide the required functionality out of the box. 1) MIDI Curve: Alter velocity or aftertouch values (0-127) in a controlled or random manner. 2) MIDI Key Zone: Transpose and restrict the playable key range. Perform velocity fades across various pitch ranges. Generate polyphonic chord fade effects. 3) MIDI Monitor: Monitor MIDI events in an effects chain, with detailed reports. 4) MIDI De-Ghost: Tempo synced trigger block, useful for hardware pad controllers that double-trigger, or removing ghost notes. It can also be used creatively to generate polyrhythms and gate-shifting effects. 5) MIDI Route: External MIDI routing capabilities. Route MIDI to external hardware, loopback to other tracks or banks. Record MIDI audio units generator output in DAWs which lack the ability to perform complex in-app MIDI routing. 6) MIDI Bus: Internal MIDI busing capabilities, designed for DAWs which lack the ability to perform complex in-app MIDI routing. 7) MIDI Latch: Enable latching and sustain capabilities, in any DAW that supports MIDI audio units. 8) MIDI Clone & Filter: Clone and filter incoming MIDI across different channels, in any DAW that supports MIDI audio units.}

This is one of those plugins you didn’t know you needed ;) I mainly got it for MIDI Curve, and it’s simply perfect. Exactly what I wanted. I use it in NanoStudio as a MIDI FX. The reason I need it is, sampled instruments sound differently at different velocities because they have multiple layers. In the studio where they create the samples, they record the instrument with a mic and they create multiple layers. First they play all notes of the original instrument at the quietest then they hit the keys harder to record the next layer etc. Good quality sampled instruments can have many layers, and when you play them, the harder you play, it seamlessly jumps to the next layer. So when you hit harder on the keyboard it doesn’t just get louder, it also jumps into the next layer where the actual sound is different. But sometimes you just don’t want it to go into certain layers. This piano sample app I got for example, when you play softly it sounds mellow, but if you press harder it sounds differently - harsh and bright. On a real piano with weighted keys you can learn to play just the way you want it to sound, but midi controllers with standard keybed have a different sensitivity so you can get those unwanted sounds into the track accidentally. If I’m making a more mellow track, I just don’t want any of those harsh bright sounds at all. Also electric pianos have this, and it’s even more exaggerated with them. Because louder sounds are meant to be distorted on EP’s. Which is awesome and I like that. Except sometimes I don’t. So how do I tell my EP to play as loud as possible but just don’t go into that distorted range no matter how hard I strike the keys? Well there is no setting for that. The best you can do is change the curve inside the EP or piano app, but that affects playability, and still there’s no fixed hard limits that you can impose. So in this MIDI Curve plugin you can set the limits. Super easy too. Just hit the keys hard on whatever app you’re using and keep turning down that threshold till it just doesn’t go into unwanted layer. Takes just a few seconds to do this because UI is clean and straightforward. And you can set the lower threshold too, so it will never go in the very quiet layer. It’s not going to ignore the very light presses, just interpret them as the new minimum that you set. There are other features in this plugin, but I mainly use it for setting upper and lower thresholds. Easy and quick! It’s like a missing feature that should come with every sampled instrument.

Hello, i don’t see any plugins except midi router on AUM but I think I should have seen all 8 plugins under audio unit extensions. In YouTube video it was supposed to be that way. Can you please help about this? Because I purchased midi tools to use with AUM. So I had to rate some stars here but actually I could not use your auv’s yet. Waiting for your reply.

Key zones should be easier and faster on making ranges and have presets saving in app or at least the host!!!!

I got this specifically to record midi au fx in beatmaker since, as of this review, it won’t do it natively. The midi route effect solves this issue and it’s so simple and quick. THANK YOU

This is a really good addition for the toolset available on the iOS platform. It provides functionality not normally available in some of the D.A.W's and it also connects to external midi channels much better than merely to a midi port virtual or otherwise. Well done for thinking outside of the box. Thank you for making it free.

I need MIDI Tools on my iPhone also.
