Bead 12 also known as 12 Guti, Baro Guti, 12 Tehni and 12 Kaati is a classic board game played by 2 players together with 12 pieces on both sides.
Bead 12, A 2 Player Game is a big-time popular game in the South Asian region, especially in South India and Bangladesh. It is also called the 24 Guti game in some parts as there is a total of 24 Beads used in the game by both players.
In this 12 Guti game, both players play with 12 beads (Guti, Goti) on each side on a 5*5 square board. Players take turns until one has left with no bead and the player with more beads wins the game.
How To Play 12 Beads (Bara Tehni) Game
A 12 Guti game board consists of a square 5*5 board. It forms 24 positions on the board where the beads/soldiers can be placed. As it’s a multiplayer game, each player has 12 pawns or soldiers.
From different colored pawns, the player chooses their favorite color and the side of the board they want to play 12BT with.
The game can be started by randomly choosing a player to be the first to take the turn or by a toss. In a single turn, a player can either make a move or do a capture, but not both. A player can only move one of its pawns to the one-step-ahead position while considering the lines as paths toward an empty spot.
If a player wants to capture (Eat) the opponent’s bead, he/she can do it if there is a vacant point/position just beyond the opponent’s bead in the line. For this purpose, the player’s bead must be adjacent to the opponent’s guti. The leap should be in a straight line while following the lines on the board.
The captured bead is removed from the board. This progress continues and players take turns until one player captures all the opponent's beads. The player who does this wins the 12 bead game.
