As risk is a complex term which entails multiple dimensions, the risky countries map was calculated from a number of sources, trying to capture the aggregated risk of living or visiting a particular city or country:
• Mortality rate attributed to household and ambient air pollution (World Health Organization, Global Health Observatory Data Repository
• UN Office on Drugs and Crime's International Homicide Statistics database
• International Labour Organization. "ILO Modelled Estimates and Projections database" ILOSTAT
• The Global Economy - Political stability
• Trading Economics’ Inflation Rate
• Decadal average: Annual number of people affected by disasters per 100,000, 2020 (Our World in Data based on EM-DAT, CRED / UCLouvain)
• United Nations Population Division. World Population Prospects: 2022 Revision, or derived from male and female life expectancy at birth, from sources such as: Census reports and other statistical publications from national statistical offices, Eurostat: Demographic Statistics, United Nations Statistical Division. Population and Vital Statistics Reprot (various years), U.S. Census Bureau: International Database, and Secretariat of the Pacific Community: Statistics and Demography Programme.
