The word “ellipsis” refers to “the removal of the superfluous”. In other words, get rid of everything that isn’t necessary. One could say that space is like one giant ellipsis—a bunch of small things that matter a lot, with vast regions of nothing in between. This watch face design is the result of applying that concept to design. The important things remain, while surrounded by a starry expanse.
