The Arunachaleswarar temple in Tiruvannamalai is one of Tamil Nadu's ancient temples. People used to go girivalam around the hill on full Monday and karthigai deepam. It takes around 14 kilometers to go the entire length of the road that circles the hill (Girivalam). It is believed to bring about a great deal of tranquillity or peace for one's mental health as well as a refreshing feeling for one's physical fitness.
