Mythic story-driven strategy
Description (
Characters: 2049 of 4000
)
Life between myths. Clans, cows, choices. The spiritual successor to King of Dragon Pass, Six Ages combines interactive stories and turn-based strategy. Your small clan’s survival depends on its relations with the warring gods and their followers. Play involves actions such as improving pastures, exploration, trading with your neighbors, and raiding. You can even travel to the Otherworld to visit your gods. You also need to deal with crises ranging from marauding dinosaurs to diplomatic requests to illicit love. Your choices have a politico-economic impact, but some consequences might not be obvious for decades. It’s set in Glorantha (the world of RuneQuest, HeroQuest, and 13th Age), where the laws of physics are subordinate to the whims of the gods and spirits. Six Ages is immensely replayable, thanks to over 400 interactive scenes with multiple outcomes. Short episodes and automatic saving mean you can play even when you only have a minute or two. The built-in saga writes down the story for you. And advisors with distinctive personalities help you track your cows. 148Apps: “… absolutely worth playing. … Six Ages uniquely weaves an astounding amount of of narrative, lore, and nonbinary decision-making into its gameplay that makes it feel truly unique and special.” Touch Arcade: “… if you want to get lost in a world full of meticulous details and gameplay that isn’t quite like anything else, you’ll want to hop on to Six Ages as soon as possible.” Pocket Tactics: “Six Ages holds a wealth of wonders few other games can match.” One of Rock Paper Shotgun’s top 100 PC games of all time: “All your choices create a curious and gnarled tree of a story … that is sometimes funny, and sometimes a little distressing.” Ben Silverman: “A heady mix of “Civilization” and a Choose Your Own Adventure game… Ridiculously deep and “just one more turn” addictive…” When you complete Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind, you can continue your clan’s saga in Six Ages 2: Lights Going Out. The game is completely accessible via VoiceOver.}

This game probably is the better one then KODP but it is lacking a few charming features present in KODP. For example it was fun to distribute your acres between woodland, pasture and crop fields. Here all of that nuance is missing. Also the randomness in this game makes me so mad it can give me kidney stones. I liked the Iron Age Gauls/Anglos of KODP more then these Bronze Age Hungarians/Huns, although the Gods these guys worship are just as cool as Orlanth and gang. Finally the time scale in this game is very short. In KODP you could have played for a hundred+ years. Here it is less than 30 I have found. Years last longer in this game so you still play for a long time but maybe not as long as KODP. Still combat is much better, seasons are now split into early and late versions which makes it easier to keep track of how much time you have, that makes years last longer. Spirits are a very cool addition. The dialogue options are much more wide ranging which is good. The family system could have been better, unfortunately they don’t really effect the game beyond the events and bottlenecking your clan ring, making you have to choose one of each family, something that can thankfully be regularly ignored. I would like to have seen them presented as semi independent entities that you have to negotiate with. At least a single tab related to them would have been nice, which family has the most cattle, what family is related to which clan? So basically, good game.

I adore the lore! Once you surrender to the struggles of six ages, this trilogy begins to sing a song full of grace and authenticity. You get introduced to many gods whose names and stories evolve through the inhabited necessity of their existence for this world, by the peoples who strive within it. Each god is paradoxical since every culture views them from a separate lens. There’s plenty of paradox, come get some, bro. This is the sort of game which humbly demands that you see things from the perspective it provides, from your clans eyes. And all the while, the dualistic nature of the why becomes ever more complex.

Valitettavan lapsellinen ja helposti arvattava tarina. Ei lainkaan alkuperäisen tarinan tasoinen. Lisäksi pelaa loppuun parissa päivässä.

Game is brutal even at easier level. Lots of nasty events keep happening that makes the game not fun.

New to this type of game, but absolutely loved it. Was glued to my iPad for days. Can’t wait to try Six Ages 2 and Kings of Dragon Pass.

this game I would highly recommend to those who enjoyed King of dragons pass. It is the sequel to the previous game. I like this game a lot. The music is beautiful, and it works well with voiceover.

I gave this game a lot of chances and even read the manual several times. Been trying it off and on for a couple of years. Game would be fantastic if it had any way of measuring how well you’re doing whatsoever. I genuinely think that the developer wanted to hide the game mechanics. Because then we would understand just how poorly they were put together. The artwork is nice, the stories are nice, but it all really counts for nothing if the game itself is unplayable, which it absolutely is. I’ve had games where I completely random clicked on events and it didn’t even make me do any worse. The quality of the storytelling actually backfires when you invest yourself in the story but then realize that your decisions are not relevant. I’m not going to look up a guide online for how to play this game like 90% of the other players have done. That would defeat the purpose of playing the game. I suspect if online guides didn’t exist that this game would have a much lower rating. Although, after reading many of the five star reviews, it’s obvious that many of them are completely fake.

This game is different than many other mobile games, every action leads to a greater plot and can be rewarding.
