This app is the ultimate product of a PhD research project focused on the optimum design of oilfield separators. In this project, the most popular sizing approach of Svrcek-Monnery was modified to incorporate empirical phase separation data as well as the findings of Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) simulation of the process. Note, the popular classic methods are usually too conservative and specify oversized separators. The Realistic-CFD approach, on the other hand, proposes more economical separators that can successfully accomplish the separation task. "Three Phase Separator" app:  • Provides detailed results for all well-known classic methods, i.e. GPSA, York Demister, Theoretical, as well as the novel Realistic-CFD approach.  • Covers both vertical and horizontal orientations and various design types, i.e. simple, boot, weir, and bucket & weir. • Uses optimization techniques, such as Golden-Section Search, and Bisection method to specify the surge/holdup/level control compartments.
