The two apps offered in this bundle have been developed in conjunction with specialist teachers in the field of visual impairment, the activities in both have been specially designed for use with children with low vision, including those with cerebral visual impairments and complex needs.
When combined with the high quality visual display of the iPad these apps have been found to be an ideal way to help encourage users develop their use of vision.
They will provide you with a great range of exciting activities with great audio feedback to encourage and develop visual skills. The comprehensive menus make these apps a powerful tool to help you assess visual preferences including direction and type of movement, colour combinations and understanding of simple images.
Both apps offer similar comprehensive options for access using touch or switches, colour preferences and reward time allowing you identify student preferences and adapt the apps accordingly. This allows you to find activities in both apps that can interest your student giving them more varied visual experiences.
Big Bang Patterns
This app contains four specially created sets of animated patterns, each containing twelve different animations, accompanied with a choice of music or sound effects.
These patterns have been designed to provide a range of visually stimulating activities with a choice of bold colours and movement effects including tracking, sliding and tunnelling.
Each of the four sets of patterns provides:
• Twelve varied animated patterns with music or sound effects.
• Where appropriate, the sound effects coincide with changes in the animation to give extra stimulus.
• Choice of eight background and foreground colours (choose black and white for a great visual impact).
• Choice of playing time for animated reward.
• Different types of pattern allow you to investigate user’s preferences.
• Great for assessing colour preferences by choosing different combinations.
• One and two switch access options for simple choice making or direct cause and effect (suitable switch interface required).
The four pattern sets have each been designed to provide a great variety of different visual experiences.
Hard Hitting: Strong, bold screen filling patterns
Curtains: Bold curtain patterns provide movements including left to right and up and down to encourage eye tracking
Flying Shapes: Move in different directions, including straight and circular motions
Changing Shapes: Contains twelve morphing shapes
Big Bang Pictures
This app provides a choice of 21 high contrast animated images and great sound effects designed to provide visual stimulation and to develop and assess visual preferences. With a choice of three styles for each image and a choice of eight basic foreground and background colours, including black and white, these activities are ideal for assessment of picture recognition and colour preferences. The image style choices of silhouette, simple line art and complex line art allows you to offer a choice of bold simple images or more complex detailed pictures, great for assessment.
