Customizable Effect Racks
Description (

NuRack is an AUv3 based multi-channel audio and MIDI effects processor with a difference, it actually allows you to design your own custom effects using the 80+ building blocks provided. You have full control over routing which allows you to create complex audio paths in series or parallel. You can choose whether to use the stock interface or create your own custom interface using the built in Interface Builder which allows you to concentrate your audio components into a single customized effect. NuRack can run in one of two modes. The first providing 3 customizable effects racks which can be switched (manually or via MIDI), providing seemless switching (i.e. delay trails linger whilst another set of effects are faded in). The second mode allows you to route audio through 3 independent audio racks. A generaous number of over 80 audio and midi building blocks are provided covering 12 different categories of effects. Here are just some of those included in NuRack: Modulation Effects: Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Tremolo, Vocal Doubler, TalkBox, UniVibe, Leslie & Vocoder. Time Based Effects: Stereo Delay, Tape Delay, Reverb and Reverse Delay. Spectral Effects: Parametric EQ, Graphic EQ, PitchShift, Auto-Pan, Bit-Crusher, Tube Overdrive, Distortion, Harmony, Harmonic Exciter and SlowMo. Dynamic Effects: VelocityControl, Compressor, Multi-Band Compressor, Noise Gate, Gate, and Limiter. Filter Effects: MultiFilter, LP/HP Filter, Frequency Splitter, MultiBand Splitter, Classic Filters, Formant Filter, Ring Modulation and Shelf Filter. MIDI Effects: MIDI Harmony, MIDI Velocity, MIDI Randomizer, MIDI Monitor, MIDI Mixer, MIDI Pads, MIDI Control, Strummer, MIDI Recorder, MIDI Modulation, MIDI Remap, CC Monitor, CC Generator, PitchBend, MIDI Time Clock, and ChordToMidi. Generator Modules: Noise, Audio Clip Launcher, SoundFont Player, Virtual Flute, Virtual Clarinet, Virtual Brass, FM Organ, FM Rhodes and Analog Sawtooth Synth. Automation: TouchPad, AutoMate, Pattern Automation, and Visual LFO. You also provide the ability to split and combine audio signal using splitters and mixer modules as well as a number of visual elements such as VU Meters, LED Meters, Scopes, Graphs etc. Some effects such as phaser and flanger are usually controlled by an LFO, but this can be detached and automated remotely. There are a number of modules that allow auomation based on direct touch (X/Y Pads), Visual LFO, Pattern Automation, MIDI input (CC data), or peak/rms level detection. These automation modules can remotely control knobs and sliders throughout your rack. Simply create a new rack and start adding modules to it. These modules are generally wired up automatically but these connections can be manually routed. Once you have your sound as you wish you can use it 'as is', or switch to Interface Builder mode where you can combine all your modules into a single interface. Elements can be dragged, dropped, resized and coloured as required. Add your own labels, image logos and custom backgrounds before saving your custom component. Use the X/Y Pad to control your modulation effects by detaching their LFO's. Use MIDI CC data to automate knobs. Use the velocity of an incoming signal to control the cutoff/resonance of a filter (wah) or volume level of a gain control (swell), as NuRack expands, so do the possibilities. Features: ○ Over 80 categorised modules. ○ 3 Input / Output busses supported. ○ Audio & MIDI effect. ○ Lots of audio & MIDI automation options. ○ Seemless transition between racks. ○ Manual audio path routing. ○ Open in presentation mode (auto hides controls). ○ Interface Builder to customize your rack. ○ AUv3 plugin runs in MIDI and none MIDI mode. ○ Add your own Text/Heading and Image/Logos and backgrounds to your design. ○ Compatibility options for DAW's not supporting multi-channels. ○ Dark/Light Modes Checkout the YouTube channel 'Paul the MusicMan' for demos and tutorials of NuRack.}

Preface: This app is potentially life changing.. Thank you for making this. An all in one fx rack that essentially replaces any others I use, save for a few specific ones. Minor learning curve (if you don’t watch any tutorials). Everything’s super self explanatory except for deleting modules and routing- still easy to figure out though.. The ability to customize makes effects freaks like me salivate 😌. Being able to split sound in so many ways: L / R, Frequency range, etc. gives you the power to manipulate sound to a degree that would blow the mind of a sound engineer of the past. I have two things I would like the crew that made this to see. 1. I ask for one more time based effect. ¡A straight reverse reverb! I love the reverse delay, and use it alll the time, but often I just want the tail to be reversed and play at the same time. I have achieved something close to it playing with routing, blend, and the rev. delay + regular reverb, but it makes my brain tired. 2. Sometimes adding a module will just crash the whole rack, and sometimes other racks that are being used at the same time. I do have a slightly older iPhone, but it happens quite often. Especially with the reverse reverb. This phenomena and other random bugs that cause crashes can be frustrating. And SCARY too! Middle of the night, you’re making a lush and gentle ambient instrumental. All of a sudden you hear clicking and popping, feedback, and explosions in your ears at like 100db. Let me know if you’d like more on my feedback, I’d love to talk to developers about this amazing app. The crashing, and the crashing being physically painful sometimes is the only thing holding this back from 100% perfection. With that being said, I can’t ask for 100% perfection. Especially at the unbelievable price point. One of my favorite purchases of all time. The quality of sound, variety of features, customization, and usability is well worth the price. A multi effects vst for the pc on this level would be $300+. Huge thank you to the developers, from the bottom of my heart. As a broke 22yr old with a burning passion for music and sound.. I’m so blessed to be able to acquire top of the line tools and still be able to eat, pay rent, etc. Thank you thank you thank you!!! P.S.: My most used Preset I’ve made: Splitter: {Rev. Delay + Reverb} {tape delay + harmonizer or vocal doubler} Send both to mixer, pan them hard in opposite directions. Not too crazy but it is a potent combo.

Hope you don’t want to change any modules location or remove them after place, because it seems you can’t. Kinda breaks any utility for making complex patches as the individual modules are pretty shoddy. Unfortunately, not broken enough to be accepted for a return. Would be zero stars.

Just starting out using the Ipad for music. I had only the free effects available on the app store, scattered across different auv3's, and of questionable quality and/or abilities. This app gives me every effect I could possibly need and the ability to customize these effects into a single rack, (or multiple racks in series and parallel). ... And, man, can you customize. It has a has a modular toolkit that lets you build all the effects you want, contained in a single effet slot. Mr. Paul knocked it out of the park again.

This is another super fantabulous gift from the hall of famer dev of the Ios. one of the most respected and remarkable developers, and boy did he do justice, hes gonna lay every other devs down. if you don’t buy it, you’ll definitely depart much early from the production game. Respect, 4pockets! we love you! yes we do

I’ve meddled around with NuRack for months and I’ve still not scratched the surface. I watched a YouTube video by the legendary Jamie Mallender and purchased the app instantly. I have most of 4Pockets Paul’s apps because they are always top quality. And he’s a Yorkshireman like myself. If you want to build unique midi set ups to use in Aum, Cubasis and now Logic Pro. Look no further.

Great but the app keeps crashing when trying to view the coolest visualizer (the spectral analysis)

This software rack is like a taster for 4Pocket with versions of many of their popular apps. So much to go into you really need to watch a few tutorials and read the FAQs to get the most of it. I learn new tricks every time I use it. NuRack not a directly comparable software but could be good for anyone who can’t right now afford MixBox.

I know this suggestion would represent a significant update to the developer (who is fantastic, by the way), but it would be helpful for users if it was possible to see a graphic representation of each module as a (possibly side-scrolling) list of options which could then be dragged and dropped into the effects chain, or just tapped on to add each module to the chain. Part of the problem with just seeing a text-based list of options is it’s difficult to visualize the final layout. Making the actual images visible (similar to stickers, perhaps) would drastically speed the review and selection process. Your competition (MixBox CS) has this identical issue. Scrolling through hundreds of descriptions is not as efficient for production as it would be seeing the real components.

This app opens up a lot of possibilities with audio fx. There are a lot of fx modules that take some time to individually appreciate but that is sort of the idea. This has become my Swiss Army knife for fx, and this one includes a scalpel 🤣 Another important note is that the creator keeps the app regularly up to date. Occasionally even adding more impressive fx modules! Highly recommended app for iOS music producers. Cheers

1.51 B73 Fixed an issue where images added to your designs were not being restored if the app window was closed. This was due to a privacy/security feature added to iOS regarding not being able to access the pasteboard if the app window is in the background. Added scene support for compatibility with future iOS versions.
