North Korean card game Sasakki is a shedding card game played mainly in North Korea. It's a fairly simple game, but does require much strategy to play it well.
The objective of the game is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards.
The game is played with a standard 52 card deck without 2s and Jokers. The rank of cards from low to high is 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace.
When the table is empty and a player is playing he can play a few different types of combinations. Those are: single card, pair of cards with the same rank, three cards of the same rank, four cards of the same rank, sequence of at least 3 cards (E.g. 4,5,6. The card in a sequence don't have to have the same suit.), sasakki (two 4s and Ace), red pig (two red 10s) or black pig (two black 10s).
Three cards can beat any single card, a pair or a sequence. Sasakki beats three cards, single card, a pair or a sequence. Four cards beat Sasakki, three cards, single card, a pair or a sequence. Red pig beats Four cards, Sasakki, three cards, single card, a pair or a sequence. Black pig can only beat Red pig or a pair of cards (9s or lower).
Once a player has put out a combination the other players have to try to play the same type of combination with a higher rank or stronger combination of a different type. If a player can't play he must push a Pass button. If no player can put out a higher combination than what's on the table, they all say Pass and the cards are removed from the table. The player who had the final combination on the table gets to play next and can play any combination he wants, since the table is now empty.
A player is allowed to Pass even if he has cards that he could play.
For combination of cards with same rank you can play another combination of cards with same rank if the highest card of is higher than the highest card of the combination on the table.
For sequences you can play another sequence if the highest card of your sequence is higher than the highest card of the sequence on the table.
Both combinations and sequences must have same number of cards.
There is an exception to the normal anticlockwise order of play. When a single card is played, any player who has a pair of cards of the same rank as the single card may play it to beat the single card (Tap your avatar icon to play.). This play has priority over all other plays. For example if a 8 is played, the next player in turn would like to play the special combination K-K-K, but another player has a pair of 8's they wish to play, the pair of 8's has priority and the Kings cannot be played.
When a matching pair is played in this way, it can only be beaten by the fourth card of the same rank. Any player who has the fourth card may play it, including the player who played the original single card or the same player who played the pair. This fourth card cannot be beaten.
Holders of red 10s form a partnership and can reveal it before the game starts.
Tap the cards you want to discard and push a Play button. If you want to deselect some card just tap it again.
