Epidavros topoguide is a digital field guide for hikers, nature lovers and visitors of the Epidavros archaelogical sites wishing to discover the area. The application includes routes, descriptions and photos for 21 hiking trails near Epidavros, along the coastal villages and the unexplored mountainous zone.
Epidavros area hosts a plethora of important archaelogical sites, like the sanctuary of Asclepios and the adjacent great ancient theatre. Less obvious but not less interesting are the monuments of the mycenaean period, such as the Pyramid of Ligourio and the first stones bridges of the human history.
The application offers detailed offline maps and an extensive introduction on geography, the history and the paths of Epidavros area.
The app offers also a useful list of POIs with a comprehensive search engine.
The trails list includes easy family walks, moderate hiking trails, as well as some more demanding mountaineering routes.
In the field, the app identifies the nearest adventure, guides you to it and then along it by displaying messages and warnings on every junction or other important location. On each Point of Interest, photos and texts are displayed on the map. If the hiker gets off-trail, the app indicates the shorter way to get back safely.
The cartographic company AnaDigit, creator of the application, has issued previously hundreds of detailed hiking maps for Greece (eg. maps of Menalon Trail, Mt Taygetos, Mt Olympus, Crete, Zagori, Sifnos, Naxos and other Aegean islands). To build the application and ensure data accuracy, all paths of Epidavros area and Mt Arachneo have been revised during late 2019.}
