Mani topoguide is a digital field guide for travellers, hikers and nature lovers visiting, walking or exploring the infamous Mani peninsula.
The application offers off-line maps and a concise introduction on geography, the history and the nature of Mani. The app proposes a list of routes, designed for cars, SUVs or motorhomes, running across eastern and western Mani area.
The app offers also a long list of POIs with a comprehensive search engine.
Mani topoguide gives access to four detailed guides, covering the areas of
1. Avia (from Verga and Kambos to Mt Taygetos),
2. Kardamyli (from Kardamyli and Stoupa to Trachila and the crest line of Mt Taygetos and Mt Zygos),
3. Areopoli (from Areopoli and Mezapos to Mt Sagias),
4. Tenaro (from Gerolimenas and Vathia to Cape Tenaro).
Each area is covered by a guide, namely Avia topoguide, Kardamyli topoguide, Areopoli topoguide and Tenaro topoguide. Each guide is offered as an in-app-purchase.
In total, all four guides include more than 80 hikes, and more than 150 pages of information and photos covering all important aspects of the geography, history, and the nature of Mani peninsula.
In the field, the app identifies the nearest hiking route and guides you to it and then along it by displaying messages and warnings on every junction or other important location. On each Point of Interest, photos and texts are displayed on the map. If the hiker gets off-trail, the app indicates the shorter way to get back safely.
The cartographic company AnaDigit, creator of the application, has issued previously hundreds of detailed hiking maps for Greece (eg. maps of Menalon Trail, Mt Taygetos, Mt Olympus, Crete, Zagori, Sifnos, Naxos and other Aegean islands). To build the application and ensure data accuracy, all paths of Mani peninsula have been revised during Spring of 2020.}
