یہ تفسیر بالماثور میں سب سے زیادہ مفید ، مشہور ترین اور عظیم الشان تفاسیر میں سے ایک ہے ، اور اس لحاظ سے یہ تفسیر ابن جریرطبری کے بعد دوسری کتاب ہے جس کے اندر مولف نے مفسرینِ سلف کی روایات کو نقل کرنے کا خاص اہتمام کیا ہے۔ مولف محترم آیت نقل کرکے اس کے عام معنی بیان کرتے ہیں ، پھر اس کی تفسیر قرآن کریم سے یا حدیث سے یا صحابہ و تابعین کے اقوال سے ذکر کرتے ہیں۔ بسا اوقات آیت سے متعلق تمام احکام وقضایا اور کتاب وسنت سے ان کے دلائل ذکر کردیتے ہیں۔ نیز فقہی مسالک کے اقوال معہ ادلہ وترجیح کا بھی اہتمام کیا ہے۔
اس عظیم خدمت کواردوقالب میں ڈھالنے کا کام بر صغیر کے مایہ ناز و معروف عالم دین ترجمان کتاب وسنت مولانا محمد صاحب جونا گڑھی نے انجام دیا ہے۔
