Bagua Zhang Eight Trigrams Kung Fu by Liang, Shou-Yu, Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming and Chenhan Yang (YMAA). Learn the most popular forms of Bagua with these streaming video lessons, including Eight Palms, Swimming Body, and Deer Hook Sword forms. This video app has three segments, each available with a separate In-App purchase. • Includes fundamental training such as qigong and circle walking. • Beautiful forms from the lineage of Grandmaster Liang, Shou-Yu. In China, Bagua Zhang (Eight Trigrams Palm) is categorized as an Internal Martial Art,, meaning the movements are applied with internal power (jing), using Qi (energy). Bagua emphasizes circular movement, employs both defensive and offensive strategies, and trains at all three fighting ranges - short, middle, and long. Older internal arts can be traced back to Shaolin temple, including "Taiji Chang Quan" which existed in many variations, and eventually evolved into Taijiquan. Other forms of the same era such as "Heavenly-Inborn Style", "Nine Small Heavens", and "Acquired Kung Fu" also show similarities to what later became Taijiquan. The principles of softness, sticking, adhering, and using the opponent's own momentum against himself were established in these precursory martial styles. Bodhidharma's teaching at the Buddhist Shaolin Temple around 550AD, which detailed the theory of using the mind to lead the Qi to energize the physical body, is widely considered the origin of all Internal Martial Arts, including Tai Chi. Grandmaster Liang's martial arts training begain at the age of 6 while living on Emei mountain, under the guidance of his famous grandfather in 1948. Grandmaster Liang then sought out other renowned masters and other styles from Shaolin and Wudang. In the early sixties, Grandmaster Liang began his study and research in the few major styles of Taiji such as Yang, Chen, Sun, and Wu style, Buddhist Esoteric Qigong, and Taoist Qigong. Grandmaster Liang has many times been a gold medalist in Wushu and Taiji competitions held in Sichuan province. Grandmaster Liang lives and teaches in Vancouver, Canada. Chenhan Yang is the President of SYL Wushu, Shou-Yu Liang Institute and has been a disciple of GM Liang since his teen years. Thank you for downloading our app! I have practiced Chinese and Japanese internal martial arts for over 30 years. This set of training materials is very good, and with patience and diligence, one can learn this beautiful version of Emei Bagua. I returned to Bagua to address specifically the physical degradation a desk job has caused, and I am reaping excellent benefits already. As an app it’s very simple, and does not get in the was of the material.
