The idea is pretty cool, having affordable rides by sharing it However, the UI is so terrible that makes it totally annoying. Several times when you check the expected waiting time to get a ride it shows 2 different possibilities, then you book one of them... wait... wait... wait... and then get a message informing there's no ride available. Then you check the waiting times again, and the same 2 options appear again... Serious? If it is high demand there's no queue or radar alert or any smart way to make the experience not miserable, you need to keep trying and trying and trying... until you give up and get a bus... Sometimes the driver cancel out of blue and you have to order another one, or the driver goes to the opposite direction... If you have a tight schedule you can't count on this. The pickup/drop-off spots are also getting worse, my last job it started picking up 1km away from it, even tho it pass by the right location. Every time I sent a complain about all those issues, instead of fix it they just threw some credit on my account and that is it. Plus, it started with really affordable prices, from 3eur a ride, now it starts around 6-7, not much cheaper than uber (more expensive than uber if you are in more people) with a way worse service.

Great way to get around when you’re not cycling in Amsterdam! Sharing rides is great for the environment and it’s cheaper than other taxis out there

I was a big fan from the first day ViaVan was launched in The Netherlands. I have been using it on a regular basis and even promoted it to friends and colleagues. Since two months I've been using it daily for work and I loved it. But what does ViaVan do? It increases my fees because they see I'm using it daily anyways! Well, guess what.. you just lost a fan.
